If we were to discuss that particular facet, it is clear that our society has developed in a specific "way".
This, of course, is the consequence of our collective history of making less-than-ideal choices.
However, a significant aspect of our contemporary "culture", or at least the prevailing social dynamics, can be traced back to the post colonial era, whether influenced by local factors, foreign influences, or a combination of both.
Result is the same regardless, we are societies that have completely lost any capability or courage of critical thinking, and, most importantly, we lost our sense of beauty and aesthetics and so much more.
It's depressing, but as I said in my past reply, it's not productive to think about it, and neither me nor you have the power to fix it.
