It facilitated the biggest trade and financial system outside the west. From the outside perspective, especially the west, it basically does nothing and does not interfere with them whatsoever. You do your trade, they do their own.

No one wants goods in rubles or rupees, India and Russia are still insisting on USD for the oil trade with each other. Pakistan used barter trade of mangoes in exchange for Russian grains.

Even the yuan, the strongest currency among them (since people actually want to buy Chinese goods) is worthless to denominate inter-BRICS trade since its controlled so heavily by the Chinese government
