When I worked for the Census in 2020 I had to spend a night there, it didn't seem that bad tbqhwyfm. Lots of people out on a weeknight though it was street-to-street. there is a little family of rabbits living somewhere around the place I rent an apartment in
the apartments are just quarters of a fairly big single floor house with a hall in the middle
two bedrooms and like a big shared room for kitchen and living room, even a border between carpet and vinyl flooring.
Anyways, it's not even that rural, it's a normal neighborhood between a few roads, houses are on maybe quarter acre lots, pretty close to each other just a little lawn for each.
But the town population is in the hundreds and there are farmers' fields all around for miles and nothing else but roads dividing them, so I think the rabbits just happened to think it would be a nice place to live, and no one ended up bothering them, and they didn't end up bothering anyone else, so now they live here and sometimes I just see one of them scurrying away from my car when I pull into the driveway or get in the car to leave, or shuffling and hopping lazily out of my way as I drive up the dirt road that goes to town and on to the nearest highway.
The traffic downtown may as well be non-existent, and they celebrate when their kids win a big sports game or have one coming up by painting slogans and cheers for the team name the school uses for all years/sports on the windows of their shops, or writing their names in chalk all over main street, or so on.

The nearest city to me is 10 or 20 thousand people. They have live music some nights out in a one of their main streets that they basically close off sometimes. I don't go there much aside from work because I'm poor, but there is a lot to do there. The zoo is small but the nicest one I've ever been to, and the animals seem pretty happy even though some exhibits are a bit cramped.

I know a few good local diners and even a burger and shake drive through only place that's family run. Almost nobody seems to go to the movie theater, at least not on the miscellaneous hours I go see movies in their second or third week of release if I feel like it. There's always at least a few other people so you never have a room to yourself, but it feels very empty in the big rooms and you get a plush seat that you can recline and puts up your legs with a button. The food is expensive but I still don't know how they stay open, you can get $5 tickets on one of their off days.
There's a little family waterpark, I don't have any kids so I've never been and am not sure what its open season is. There's a tabletop/hobby shop I don't go in because the people behind the counter seemed unfriendly when I went the one time, and because I assume the groups that play there will be "countercultural" against their regional culture - so just worse informed versions of the coast culture I left.
It's primarily a working city, one whole quarter of it if not more seems to be an industrial park for mainly CNCs and steel milling and assembly, but I'm sure it has lots more to offer if I lived there and knew about it.
So far the only danger I ran into was cops stopping me for minor infractions and when my exhaust fell off and one time I had to go through a sobriety checkpoint kek

Or you just buy land not quite as conveniently located and build your own house. It's never been easier. The materials aren't getting any cheaper either. You no longer even need someone to show you how or what tools to use, you don't even need to figure out how to use graph paper or how to diagram a house the same as all the ones you've been in before, because AI models now can do that for you along with telling you every tool every material running cost analysis every technique literally everything.

You need two people (same number as you need to make children/start family) if you want to build a big/complicated house, otherwise it can be just one.
