People completely lost their minds when the USSR collapsed and assumed it was a triumph of capitalism instead of a failure of Soviet communism and therefore it was totally okay to let the Chinese take all of our industry because the same thing would eventually happen to them and we would make a lot of money in the interim

They didn't 'take' our industry. We are simply consuming products made there.

USA can still compete on high level manufacturing that is less labor intensive, we just have to git gud. It doesn't make economic sense to be making cheap shit here in the USA where labor costs are high.

Capitalism and globalism have led to the highest quality of life ever in human history. We live like kings by historical standards.

The problems we have here in USA are housing and healthcare, neither of which are free markets. Obviously cost disease is a problem in some industries (such as the aforementioned), but the abundance of food and consumer products we have should not be discounted.

We as a society are ungrateful for the prosperity brought to us by capitalism and globalism.

the wages are not following the rise in productivity, except for the richest. you would be more rich if clinton and other neolibs didn't break the system

Median income has significantly risen adjusted for inflation.

I know it has, and inequality has significantly risen too, and relative wealth is important

Median income seems far more important than inequality.

I just want to be able to buy more stuff, I don't particularly care if Elon Musk has a trillion dollars.

I mean you did not really address his point. People still work 40h+ a week even though "productivity" has skyrocketed

you are not scared that political influence of the ultra rich and government-corporation partnerships will work against your interests? and that labor conditions will just get worse and worse as automation improves?

Its in my interest as a consumer for products to be cheaper. Corporate power is just one power, there's also populist power, union power, home owner power, pensioner power, they're all special interests groups. I would actually say corporate power is milder than some of these. Its ultimately up to our society to look past these special interests and think of our shared interests as consumers.
>and that labor conditions will just get worse and worse as automation improves?
Why exactly would that happen? Automation tends to improve labor conditions. As productivity improves, we can afford to buy more stuff.

I think what you're going to find is that Americans are literally top cuck for our economic elite. At least half of Americans will defend our government descending into outright oligarchy because they think billionaires are very smart and have everyone's interests at heart. It's like a new modern American religious where we deify our super rich.

Middle class boomers are more powerful than billionaires. They're currently lobbying to have themselves exempt from property taxes, they don't want any housing for young people built, they want the social security checks to keep flowing, and they aren't particularly concerned about the national debt. The One Big Beautiful Bill was largely a wealth transfer from young to old.

>our shared interests
how does corporate power have shared interests with you? their interests are to pay workers less and sell stuff at higher prices, your interests are to be paid more and pay less for stuff dude wat. and this is not my radical manifesto /pol/ theory of economics but economy 101

boomers are irrelevant, big capital that owns properties does the lobbying

Corporations aren't one interest, they compete against each other. What is in Google's interest is often not in Apple's interest or Meta's interest.

As long as the government breaks up monopolies when they form, than there is no problem. We have anti-trust law to protect against that. There's not really much evidence that monopolies are a major problem in USA. This isn't Russia where fully functioning socialist monopolies were handed over to oligarchs.
Anonymous United States No.214483054 [Report]
>>214482942
Property tax ending wouldn't actually be good for investment firms since the property values would end up collapsing due to schools and municipalities being defunded. Its only good for boomers who are on their way out and won't experience the consequences.

old school standard oil monopolies are a thing of the past, now you have a tech oligopoly that eats up all the smaller companies and whose power is in effect monopolistic. and they are spending billions on lobbying. to cuck you, the consumer.

Middle East failings aside, her domestic policies were almost identical to Bill's. Couldn't give less of a fuck about retarded arabs killing each other for another decade. What mattered was not doing shit like using tax dollars to take stakes in private companies, retarded tariff shit, etc.
