So much of my behaviour is escapism in one way or another. Anything to distract myself from being seated here in the present moment. Movies, vidya, doomscrolling, watching garbage on the internet, posting on 4chan, doing drugs, getting drunk, watching porn, jerking off, etc. Lifting weights is pretty much the only good thing I do because it’s so physical.

Being awake and present in authentic reality causes too much anxiety, so I rely on all of these bullshit vices to relieve that anxiety. But a person can spend so much time indulging in their vices that it starts to replace reality. A person can live (almost) their whole life plugged into this ‘matrix’ of cope reality. This is how I have been living. I’ve been blocking out reality for so long, that it’s extremely painful to step back into life once again. I feel like I don’t know how to be a person anymore without my ‘matrix’ of copes. I feel like an alien.
