Why do they do this?
Paradox made playing wide too punishing, the Roman Empire was able to collect taxed and recruit people all around the empire but for some reason late medieval countries can't get taxes from a town 50 km away.
Genuinely I can't see how they played this and thought this was a good simulation (I know it's a game but Paradox games strive to be at least somewhat simulationist).

I know it’s a complete utopia and more than half of population would need to be culled, but:
Space exploration
Humanity continuity (combating things like pollution and garbage)
Scientific advancement
Of course, this would mean severe cuts to dem social programs and things like that. We should strive for a good future (in a far reaching objective and not looking simply at tomorrow), and not care for the short future.
This might mean a decrease in human population, by the way.
