We give them an apartment and try to find them a job. It has worked wonders. We actually had tens of thousands of legit homeless people living in tents etc. in the 60s. These days we have had to broaden the definition of homeless to include everyone without a permanent place of their own. So people living at friends houses are also homeless. Of course there will always be homeless people, and some even choose to do so, and with the current right wing government homelessness is on the increase. But generally our system has eliminated homelessness.
Anti-homeless infrastructure is brown coded since it's about saving face rather than solving the root cause.

Build temple like structures in the mountains and ship them there. Shoot anyone who tried to smuggle drugs in. Try to forcibly fix them while they live in these temples (ie make them exercise, give them treatment for their addictions, give them basic bitch jobs and housing for when they return)

What I've never understood is why aren't the homeless openly rebelling and mutinying against their treatment? So they'd go to jail, big deal. It's easier to solve homelessness in places like Finland because drugs don't come by easily, so there's less reason for druggies to stay in the streets. My point isn't the quantity of addicts but the type. Obviously alcoholism is very serious but it's nothing compared to a tranq addict. These people consider drugs like meth, crack, or heroin to be "mild". If you have these people a high dose of meth they probably wouldn't even feel it. Fent is also so cheap it's essentially free. I think it's like 50 cents a tablet. Imagine a city where on every street corner is a guy handing out the most addictive substances known to man basically for free. Meanwhile the economy and job market keep growing worse. Everything grows more expensive faster than wages increase. People are more lonely, depressed, and hopeless than ever before and they turn to drugs to cope. The number of addicts keeps growing by the year. How do you fix a problem like that?

To explain what I mean further is that in the areas with the most homeless there are usually people (volunteers or other homeless) around with narcan who will ask the ones who look like they're falling asleep if they need it. If they're nonresponse they're likely to get narcaned (which apparently feels fucking awful lol cause they go from extremely high to sober with extreme withdrawals instantly) but if they shoot up in a shack nobody will be there to help them and they'll die. The reason it works here is that housing is provided unconditionally, and they're placed in apartments, not barracks type shelters. I assume it's similar in Finland.
