My desk is next to the "marketing" department at my office, which consists of 3 women ranging from low 30s to early 20s. They are the textbook example of a fake email job. I sit in plain view of all of their monitors and I have never seen them do a minute of actual of work. All they do is shop for clothes online, talk about their weekend plans, and order food (using company money) which they then eat over a 2 hour lunch break. Most of the time they don't even come back to the office after lunch.
Oh, and literally all of them are nepo hires whose jobs were created literally just to hire them. Our company has no need for marketing, we get our work from government contracts. One of the girls is the niece of one of my bosses, another one is her friend from college, and the oldest (the only one who I'm aware has an actual degree remotely related to marketing) is the sister of my manager's brother's wife.
