>>63824540>How hard is an enlistment to OTS route in the Air National Guard?I can take years or even decades or 6 months or never.
In the ANG, there needs to be an open spot and they need to pick you to fill it. Also, young guys with degrees think they’re god’s gift to the Air Force. You’re not. Like half of the Air Force enlisted force has a bachelor’s degree. In the guard, like everyone has a degree because most guards offer free tuition at state schools.
In the guard, you’ll meet 16 year TIS O-1s that were formerly E-7s.
Is it impossible to commission in the guard? No, but you might have dudes in front of you that have been genuinely waiting 10 years to put on a butterbar.
>Also, is it possible to work NG as a full time job ?Once again, yes, but there might be someone in front of you that’s been waiting 10 years for the next full-time spot to open up. AGR slots are limited, and a lot of people want them typically.
If you’re looking for a full-time job, just go active. You can switch to guard after your first contract. Unless you’re trying to be a pilot or something. Then things are different.

The officer pipelines are weird. People really hate on the whole

There’s really no perfect solution anymore. I’ve heard ridiculous shit like the Air Force making officer selects wait 2 years before actually sending them to OTS or whatever, and this is after however much time they spent getting selected in the first place. That’s damn near an entire enlisted contract.
I’m an enlistoid, so I’m a little biased, but I think I’d honestly rather enlist and finish a contract while I’m playing the officer waiting games. But I know that’s a very controversial opinion.

>keep that quiet lolThe secret clearance came after I passed meps and got a few months into the OCS process. I got interviewed by a defense counterintelligence security agency man and shortly thereafter, I was granted the clearance. After I get in, I have to complete the top secret process.

Sounds like Hemiplegia. If it's partial then it is unlikely to be more than 40%. Medical retirement is possible as the rating only needs to be 30% or higher. Medical retirement isn't a guarantee to avoid destitution though. If he has less than ~10 years, the DoD pay would probably be less than $1000 a month and a 40% VA rating doesn't pay much either.

What's better, the Texas National Guard or the Texas State Guard?
>>63840167Texas here.
The state guard is just an adult boy scout club. It's a volunteer unit that assists the NG during hurricanes, community events, and dedications. Yeah you do "PT" every once in a while, but it doesn't matter. For example, when Ike and Harvey blew in, they helped with giving out water, MREs, and other relief. It's good if you want to help your community moreso than most groups. Sadly they don't get paid and have no power whatsoever in protecting the state.
Our NG is the biggest and most powerful in the US. Massive opportunities and actually do shit. There are no downsides. National Guard wins by a country mile.

>>63844602Nothing, I don't even see the submitted forms. I first applied for it early last year if I remember correctly. I filled out the 22-1990-EZ or whatever and like a month later it came back with no service history found, even though RIGHT FUCKING THERE ON THE SAME PAGE it says the branch I separated from and my disability rating lmao. So I called them up and asked the dude about it and he recommended filling out the 1990-EZ pdf manually and then submitting it on some other government site that a bunch of agencies use, I forgot the site. So I did that and never got a response, but I went with Pell Grants and my own money instead (which I think was a good choice actually) so I didn't call them back to ask about it until last month. The lady on the phone said they sent me a letter approving it, and I'm like uhh I didn't get anything in the mail and nothing on the VA website says it was approved. So then she says they'll resend it, but I have to fill out some other form, I think a 22-1995, because I was changing it from a bachelor's to a master's. So I did that and she said it should be in the mail (why the fuck can't they just notify me on the website?) within a month, which it's not.
The only possibilities I can think of for it still being worked on is that I requested a Rudisill Review because that Supreme Court case confused me, or DOGE fired whoever was supposed to approve it.
I don't know what I'm doing.

>>63844919The military doesn’t know how to handle rank, and the Big Army views anyone below an O-4 as a pathetic peon. They still accept the notion that enlistedmen are toothless retards even though the only functional difference between officers and enlisted nowadays is an online communications degree with a 2.6 GPA (which plenty of NCOs have anyways).

He has a BCD. It’s like having a felony on your record. You can’t get a good job with a BCD, for the most part. If you wanna make good money with a BCD, go work the oil fields or something, but he’s too fat for actual labor. He’s built for the white collar jobs that he can’t get. He’s also too ugly to attract a decent woman, and he’s too autistic to have normal friends. This place is all he has.

>>63848451BCD technically isn't a felony, that would be a dishonorable discharge. BCD means you fucked up real bad, like violent/sexual offensives or repeated drug offensives. Someone has to really try to get a BCD or dishonorable they don't hand them out lightly. He is definitively a shitbag though if he got one.

>>63849339>BCD technically isn't a felony, that would be a dishonorable discharge.I didn’t say a BCD is a felony. I said it’s like a felony. There’s a very good chance it will show up on any employer background check. Certainly anything with the government. No security clearance, civilian or military. If your employer asks to see your DD-214 or your discharge code, you are fucked. Civilian jobs don’t usually give a fuck if you have a general discharge. They will give a fuck if you have a BCD. It’s a horrible first impression. Your best chance is to not mention it and hope it somehow doesn’t come up.

>>63850174What is your GPA. Reserve commissioning is often times MUCH harder to get into then active (a combination of Reservists either being working professionals with 10x the experience of anyone in their twenties, or former active duty officers which take up all the slots).
>>63850263Do you like being a paper bitch while getting no credit for your hardwork, if so go enlisted. Do you enjoy taking credit for everything your coworkers do, if so go officer. Do you prefer not to work with anyone, but still hold a high position of power go warrant officer.

>>63850298My GPA is shit tier, 2.7 B.S. in Comp Sci. I have learned a good chunk of what I would need for an EE masters degree on the job and in my free time so going back for a masters to get a good GPA is an option. I'm also just in general a lot smarter now than I was in college, and if I do the masters concurrently with my job I'll have some professional experience as well.
>>63850366Yea that's why I'm dumbed it down. If that anon still can't figure out that enlisting is legal slave work. They deserve to enlist and suffer.
>>63850379Go do a master's and do ROTC with it (will have to take extra credits to be "full time" for a master's program), alternatively get a 2nd bachelor's that will take minimum 60 credit hours from your previous degree and do BDCP and get paid to go to college in exchange for commissioning
>>63850379That GPA is tough to work around, though it is able to be waivered for a few officer programs. Which branch are you looking/most interested in. Off the bat, lets just strike out the Air Force--your GPA simply is not competitive enough to obtain a commission even with a STEM degree unless you do something akin to

>>63850398>>63850443On deeper research (as I knew there was something wrong with the BDCP route as I've never heard of someone with a bachelors going down BDCP), I'm not exactly sure someone with a degree can even apply to this program. From the program authorization of the BDCP (https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Portals/55/Career/OCM/PA-147_BDCP_Feb-2025.pdf?ver=0z97_TKSqYE3cF5ITWEfuQ%3D%3D)
>Applicants who have already completed their baccalaureate degree should apply for PAs [Insert Naval Officer programs here]
>>63850463Thats why I recommended a 2nd bachelor's for it and not for a master's degree. Though I'd 100% ask the officer recruiter if that would work
>>63850443I can afford another degree and I'd rather do a master's degree to show growth and whatnot with a much higher GPA, I think that might be my best bet but y'all would know more than me. Any variant of EW/SIGINT/Cybersecurity stuff is what I'm interested in, especially in the Navy but also the Army. I'm also split between wanting to serve but damn it would be a pretty massive pay cut, any advice for getting into one of these roles as a reservist?
>>63850528I know this isn't probably what you want to hear, but I would try to find a specific Naval RESERVES officer recruiter (they are different from active duty). Reserves info is very sparse, doubly so for the DCO (direct commission officer) side, and they could give you more concrete answers on: What you need to work on (if anything), and the programs available for DCOs. I'm most knowledgeable on active duty so I apologize for the lack of meaty information on my part.

Why don't we see more stuff like the Ft. Hood shooting in the news? You'd think more of them would shoot up a base and then kill themselves, or go after a CEO or a senator or something. They're literally trained killers; killing is what they do.
I believe violence is wrong and don't condone it btw, but obviously someone who signs up for the military has no problem with using violence to achieve their goals.

Officer side is better but still has BS like having roommates until you hit O-6 (4 to a room), having to pay for your food (some stupid tradition from when Washington couldn't pay the continental Navy), and the long hours. Air Force enlisted get treated better than Naval Officers, Naval Officers get treated better than Army and Marines Enlisted and Officers.
