Burt's absence last thread didn't go without notice. Though unhurt, I am disappointed by his juvenile protest. It's time for a break– take care of yourselves for now, everybody! Deuces
can you recommend a handgun for my gramps
a lifetime of working with his hands and some questionable osha (or lack thereof) regulations has left him with pretty much nonexistent grip strength
he only has use of his thumbs and forefingers, the last three fingers in both hands can barely close
he can shoot my .22s fine but i'm a little worried about anything above that

Get him a .22lr then, a gun you can shoot is a whole lot better than nothing. A .22 lr revolver would be best since you don’t have to rack a slide.
There is also the beretta 22a or whatever the tiny 22lrs are. They have tip up barrels so you don’t need to rack the slide, you can tip up the barrel and manually feed a round in

Wut? Wouldn't the revolver's tougher trigger pull be hard on him? Wouldn't a single action light trigger gun be better..?
Say I found a used one of these for cheap, or I could get an G26. I know the G26 is the smart choice, but I like the way the 938 looks. Is this retarded?

Don't be so quick. I don't think these guys have really thought this out.
If a dude has fucked old man hands, a revolver is worse. Worse grip, heavy and long double action pull, unless he wants to cock the hammer which requires even more time and motor skills.
Get him a gun that has an optics cut and an optic. Not only will the optic help his fucked up shitty old eyes, but he can use the entire optic as a lever to rack the slide.

Harder than what? A striker fired poly pistol? Maybe. But he'll probably limp wrist it if he can barely close the supporting fingers. A double action auto? No. A single action auto? Sure, but again, limp wristing. I doubt gramps will actually CC when he's shuffling around the local dollar tree, so honestly he should just get a reasonable long gun for home defense.

Give your grandma a J frame sized revolver and a glock, shield, whatever you're going to suggest. See which one she can actually get 6 rounds out of continuously. It won't be the semi auto, she's going to limp wrist it. You'd have to be bedridden to not be able to stroke the trigger on a 432 or something.

The only reason I don’t have a TRP Operator is because I bought a Dan Wesson Specialist. Pretty sure the Dan Wesson’s Specialist name is them aping the name Operator, as Springfield was contracted to provide pistols like the Operator to the FBI, USMC, and other agencies. Springfield still makes this special “USMC Loaded Operator” which is closer to the spec they asked for, but pretty sure the TRP is above that one in features.
Springfield Armory is weird. They have nothing to do with the real Springfield armory, they imported shitty Brazilian frames to make 1911s, but at the same time operated a very good custom shop for 1911s, real Springfield Custom Shop guns go for a lot.

It has a thumb safety doesn't it? For it to go off in your pocket you'd have to have something turn the safety off and pull the trigger. Seems unlikely. Probably objective safer than a striker fired pocket gun with no thumb safety.

32 h&r S&W J frame. Models 632 or 432. Yes, the titanium cylinder model is worth the extra money, especially for pocket carry.
You can load them with light recoiling 32 S&W long so it feels like a 22. Get a hardcast load for defense. All 22lr revolvers have very heavy triggers whereas a 32 J frame has the standard trigger pull. No slide to manipulate, it will fire no matter how bad you grip it, safe DA trigger. You really can't do better than this for non gun people or people with compromised health/strength.

Hell no. I had one and I didn't like it. The safety is way too small and it's hard to disengage when you pick up speed. Plus, single action feels extra sketchy when your are relying on India made MIM parts.
I've had a 26, sold it but got another. It's the best carry gun in it's category and is much better than the micro 9s. I sold a g48 to get the 26. It's really not that difficult to carry with a proper setup and a belt that has some stretch to it. Pair it with a g45/g47, get a mouse gun like a p32 and those are the only pistols you really need.

I get it, I thought it was the Cadillac of concealed carry when I had it, but I kept looking down at that fully cocked hammer and it didn't feel quite right. Personally I think SAO is sketchy on anything that isn't a 1911, simply because of the sample size. How many people carry a 938? How many rounds do they put through their guns? What parts fail, etc. I just have a hard time trusting it in general.
It was also too small, especially the safety. I also find that a g26 is worth the extra bulk for when I want a 9mm and a 32 snub is much lighter, safer, more reliable and more versatile for when I need something small. I do understand the desire for that one gun that can do both, but tiny 9mms haven't been it for me. To each their own, the p320 has tainted the entire Sig lineup for me and my personal experience with the 938 design, which is originally the Colt mustang, (I think Kimber and Springfield make a version too) has been lackluster. I will say that in a sea of boring polymer carry guns, the Mustang design does stand out and looks quite good.

Honestly, if you don't mind getting all your ammo online, and paying extra, 327 is the practical way to go. If you wanna shoot a lot, I would prefer the 357 loaded with 38 +p

Thanks m8. Practically unfired before I got my hands on it. I'm on the fence about putting some vintage Pachmayr rubber grips on it to make it less unpleasant to shoot. If I get a SP101 I'm going to want to use it a lot, so I'm leaning towards a .357 one.

The stock grips on the sp101 suck and hurt your hand to shoot hot ammo, if firing from a snubnose. Choose your grip wisely, because it also affects how you draw. If I was to shoot the gun a lot, I'd tape around the stock grip for extra comfiness, but the gun's kick, especially with snubnose 357 +p, would slip the gun out of a sweaty hand. On the other hand, you could opt for a lightweight grip, which worsens recoil but makes gun lighter.

My first handgun was a 92FS. I chose it because it looks cool but also I figured if police and military can shoot it halfway decent than so can I. I think it's a fantastic choice for a first handgun as a DA and manual safety really helped me get over the inherent fear of owning a gun. I mainly use it as a range toy now or let first timers shoot it.

Went to the range the other day and shot a few of my friend's guns while he shot mine. Here are my thoughts
>Ruger Mark IV Suppressed
Some of the most fun I've ever had at the range. Im tempted to get one of my own. It took a while to get used to the (lack of) recoil and *thump* of the action but after I adjusted it was pretty sweet shooting. I can definitely see this being a hit even with noguns and it makes me want to take the suppressorpill even sooner than I planned (though I'll probably wait to see what happens with Congress). For all the talk of unreliability with the cartridge, out of 500 RDS of match grade .22 I only experience two jams (FtFeeds). If you haven't shot a suppressed .22, I cannot advocate for it enough. Burt was right.
>Wilson Combat Beretta 92 G
Very similar to my own stock 92FS except a far nicer trigger. I wasn't impressed by the DA but the SA trigger was like glass with a fantastic break. I wouldn't recommend it to a newer shooter but I did enjoy it.
>IWI Masada Slim
A fine little compact. I didn't put enough rounds through it to get a good feel for it but I'm surprised I never see any discussion on it. I can definitely see it being a great carry piece

Judging from the way you posted, I'm assuming you have some knowledge/experience with firearms. If not, I would not recommend any gun in that caliber. I would recommend something in 9mm, a fullsize if it's just for a range toy and a compact if it's for carry depending on your size and weight.
If you just want to own a handgun and you want the Five-Seven cause it's cool, I completely understand. Just be aware that the ammo is going to be more expensive than some other handgun rounds so if you're dumping half a case a month, your wallet is going to feel it. As far as the gun itself, for a plinking gun feel free to pick ones that's "feels over reals".
should i switch to breakfree clp or slip2000 gun oil? i like the idea of a dedicated lubricant not the 8-in-1 shampoo type lube that is CLP. Plus, every video ive watched of someone cleaning their guns with CLP they douse the entire fucking gun in it like a mongoloid

I've used CLP for damn near 15 years with no problem. It's my go to for that reason. If anything is left behnd no big deal. It lubes. I do like that M Pro 7 stuff for soaking baked on carbon, like within the barrel or an AR-15 bolt carrier.
For lube I exclusively use the Tetra oil and Grease. It's by far the slickest stuff I've seen, and makes all the actions on your guns silky smooth. The grease also works well for polishing up that shine on your finish.

The COA is a good deal for law enforcement who wants a 'all-in-one' package but it's never going to be the meta because it's too proprietary to have any degree of customization which is what instagrammable gun culture now thrives on. The window is the exact same as the ACRO and the extra bezel is going to help buffer against drops and falls. We have no idea how rugged the COA is yet because it's only a few months old.

The internals are entirely different though. Is there any reason to believe the P365 has the same issue as the P320?
The only claim I've seen of a problem with the P365 is this guy:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ei90kVQhjm8
who says he pulls the trigger and it doesn't go off ...then when he shakes it (while still pulling the trigger) it does go off. That's a completely different issue than an uncommanded discharge. Also, I haven't seen this claim repeated - the P320 issue has been repeated a lot.

ruger LCR in 22lr & get a full sized hogue grip
super lightweight, no fucking around with reloads or racking the slide and its 8 shots
if he cant reliably rack a slide and he can only handle 22lr, you want a revolver
rimfire has a decently high chance of not going off compared to centerfire and if he gets a dud round when he has to use it, he just has to keep pulling the trigger and it moves to the next round
the LCR is also about the lightest revolver out there thats reliable
they have one in 327 HR magnum too thats 6 shots and i would recommend that if he can handle it,you know him better than any of us though and you will have to make the call on caliber

There are reports of problems if you look for them but that could be true of many guns. I know the p365 has a few problems like broken stroke tips and rapid barrel coating wear. Personally I have nothing against the p365 and would even argue it's probably a fantastic firearm but it's not even in my top 50 of ones I would buy. I've never had faith in SIG to begin with. The issue is how they reacted. It's fine to build a few trash guns, it's not fine to react like it's no big deal until your hand is forced. They could have done a GM style recall, and it would have been fine. They could have done buybacks, but no. Probably would have been cheaper, but who knows. Anyway, correcting their mistakes is not the name of their game. Outsourcing sure is, though.

Unpopular opinion: the p230 would have been a much better duty gun than the 320 since it’s at least safe to carry chambered and most soldiers will use a rifle anyways

Probably, PP series spawned half a dozen illegitimate children like the CZ-50 and Makarov. STALKER fans told me my PPK looks like a mini Makarov.
The family is actually a great choice for a car gun since they’re so safe so nice touch. Decocking and taking off safety is spot on in the animation.
>he
It had pulp fiction vibes and I project and assume people with hand sizes roughly similar to mine are male
> 9x19
It’s a blowback, anything above 9x18 is impractical. It doesn’t matter since the army fielded 380 using 1908s in ww2.
The 320 somehow makes the Makarov look good btw.

That's reasonable, and I agree.
My deal is, I tried a half dozen small firearms and really only liked two. One of them was an eight-round single stack; the other was the P365 x/xl (12 rounds)
I'll join you in disliking the company, and jump ship when I find another gun I like - but in the meantime I want to have confidence that this firearm is safe to carry.
Both of mine have manual safeties. I'm pretty sure they're okay.

If it's a coating problem, surely appropriate lube and breaking in solves the problem?

I carry a Shadow Systems MR918 right now (built it myself, used to work there) but it doesn't scratch the tism. I have a Gen 1 Archon type B. Can anyone give a good reason as to why I shouldn't carry it primarily? Yes it does the same thing as the Shadow, but it's different and I'm retarded, so cooler.

I really don't know.
you can get a Taurus 9mm for $200, 12 round mags. the cheapest not hipoint
you can sometimes get a Ruger LCP for $150, but they usually go for over $200 anyway, and it's a 6 round mag. an LCP max is $250 with a 10 round mag.
380 ammo also costs more than 9mm
wait why the fuck do they love 389 so much?
