Found a BCG stuffed into a drawer when I started a new build, I have no idea what the hell it is and internet isn’t helping. The gay key (thanks autocorrect) is staked seven goddamn times and the screws are marked YFS so it’s probably some disaster waiting to blow and whoever had it before or made the damn wanted to at least attempt to be safe. The bolt itself has a D stamp, so it’s either DPMS or some other shit that has D on their bolts. Bolt looks cheap, doesn’t feel nice. Anyone know what it could be? I doubt it’s ever been used unless somebody did a bang up cleaning job.

Everyone should own a 10/22 and they're so damn cheap it's easy. You can a base model on sale for $165, crazy cheap. Spend a little more for a LVT model and it will have a target/match barrel. Trigger sucks ass out of the box but you can upgrade either with parts or a drop in replacement.

I own a CZ-457 too. The 457 is more accurate (assuming you buy a model with a match barrel, I've heard mixed reviews of the cheaper and junior versions) but it's a bolt gun. So depends what you want it for. Casual plinking they both work, steel challenge you'll want the speed of the semi-auto, small groups off the bench the CZ will do better, hunting squirrels or whatnot they both work. GF will like either, may be easier for her not to have to work the bolt between shots though if she's brand new, just chamber the first round in the 10/22 for her and she can plink until it goes *click*

If you want to spend some money look at the Kidd SuperGrade version of the 10/22. Highly accurized out of the box and (with proper ammo) can outshoot the factory CZ. Or the Vudoo, it's a bolt action 22lr that will shoot tiny groups right out of the box, great rifle. Annies are also great but also in that higher priced group.
