A4 clone or C7A2 clone for rucking? I have one 20" upper and pretty much all the parts to do either, I would just need to buy an adjustable carbine buffer tube if I go the C7A2 route. C7 seems like it would be marginally lighter & I don't really have a preference in stocks or between the Acog & C79. Aesthetically I think they're both peak musket AR-15.

I went to chamber a round into my 'new' AR (I'm the guy who bought LEO trade in colt) and it had trouble getting the round out of the magazine and into the chamber and then it wouldn't seat properly to extract until I banged the butt of the gun onto the floor. Am I doing something wrong like loading the mags or what? Part wear? Should I have it looked at by someone who knows wtf their doing before I try and shoot it? I would personally go for a fixed stock for a DMR, or a LMG type build. I prefer A2 stocks, but that's just me. If you want something lighter, and slightly shorter, then go with a Magpul fixed MOE carbine stock.

A few weeks ago I posted in here for tips on a first AR and got a lot of helpful responses. I settled on an S&W M&P Sport III. My LGS was doing a sale for 10% all new rifles and wouldn't you know it the Sport III is sold out so I grabbed an IWI Zion-15 instead. I grabbed some generic Magpul iron sights, some mags and bore snake. Are there any other recommended upgrades? I'm already looking into an ambidextrous charging handle and a sling. My Spikes barrel doesn't seem too bad. Biggest issue is the stuck steel cases, and overall I don't think the quality of the chrome lining and chamber finish, lands grooves, and crown is that high, so it isn't that accurate. LWRC are the least expensive assembled ambi lowers. LMT are $100 more than a stripped Griffen and come with a safety and bolt catch installed. Griffen doesn't. Just wait for the fourth and assemble your own. You get the exact parts you want and save money. I went that way with an LMT lower, and it only cost an extra $120 than an LWRC with way better parts.
