Broadly speaking yes. They are smarter now and doing a very good job at fixing it. There were four major issues:

1: Over harvesting of forest resources resulting in erosion. They are fixing this in a big way.

Thus, it doesn't matter how you try to isolate your bootleg financial system and invent a fake currency rate, the rest of the world doesn't really care. Economy is just a way to handle tangible things like resources, effort, rewards, production... you cannot simply declare by law that everything is fine when reality is otherwise.
