One consideration specific to living in the city is the risk of fires spreading from a neighboring apartment or building because power outages have left everyone relying on candles and propane stoves for lighting and cooking. Try to live in a home which minimizes this risk as much as possible, I guess. If you're on good terms with your neighbors (which you should be) then you could gift them fire extinguishers and a handcrank LED lantern prior to the conflict breaking out.
