OP is buried with this post

I just want to add, the narrative itself is delusional, "China took jobz!!1" is complete nonsense
(Manufacturing jobs as a percentage of total US employment, btw, is at the same level now as it was in 1924, who was your scapegoat in 1924 OP? Germany? XD)
China did not 'take' US jobs, CEOs saw the writing on the wall in the 80s but it really ramped up in the 90s, they automated what they could with machines, they moved a lot of jobs out of the declining 'Rust Belt' states to the booming 'Sun Belt' states and really really really shitty, low wage production that couldnt be near-sourced to Mexico, did go to East Asia and SE Asia
The fact of the matter is, this poster hits the nail on the head

>they'd have to agressively devalue their currency and lower their working wages
When you really think through the WE NEED TA GET DA JOBS FRUM CHINA people's arguments to their logical conclusion, what they are advocating for is for the govt of the United States to flip a switch and throw Americans' standards of living back 50 years to when we were, and the world at large was, much, much poorer
