Getting ready to order all my at parts for my first ar build, all that is left is deciding which optic to get, as I have only ever used iron sites on my rifles and pistols. Should I go with an LPVO or a 3x prism? I was looking at Primary Arms’ optics, and am trying to decide. All that is left in my budget is around $350

I was at the range and saw a fat dude shooting an AR with a basically normal configuration. No fin grip, no fixed mag spotted. So I got curious and looked up the local outdoor ranges around me, then browsed through the customer uploaded photos. To my surprise I saw a lot of non compliant stuff. AKs with 30 round mags and no fin grip, ARs with the same.

Is it just a 'dont ask dont tell' sort of atmosphere? Does CA just not have the resources to snoop on the ranges?

The laws are only enforced as additions or enhancements. If you don't go around flagrantly violating the law nobody is going to look at your guns. If you get the cops called for a domestic or are raised for other reasons they will evaluate your guns and girth you out.

Honest to God, and I am really swearing on my life here, I have a 4X ACOG, and a 3x PA Prism. I fucking love the PA 3x prism so damn much.

The ACSS reticle is perfection, and the glass quality is identical to the ACOG as far as my monkey eyes can tell. I have beat the shit out of that thing, and it still has the original battery in from about 16 months ago. I larp and range day every Saturday (Sometimes Sunday if I'm not helping out at my parents farm) so that's gotta be at least 5k hours on the original battery.

It's so fucking good, but everyone will say it's shit because it's like $300. Get one. You won't regret it. I have it on my 300BLK SBR.

Alternatively there's also rreceivers like the BCM MK2 that position the FA more towards the front of the receiver to clear the charging handle completely. But those don't work with LMT Mars lowers.
