It was discussed. There was very little to go on technically, because mosad didn't publish anything substantial and speculation only takes you that far. When hezbolla started getting their asses kicked in general the discussion pivoted to that. Then they surrendered, meaning no new developments.

While it is interesting, no one has take the time to really dive into it. Normally that would be wierd. But it's not like there haven't been a lot of high profile glowie ops to discuss live this winter with syria and spring, between Iran and Ukraine.

I mean, what's there to discuss? Sure it was a nice piece of glowie shit, but beyond that? Discuss the specific bomb mixture they used? Go into the riveting details of a shell corp? Frankly, the most discussion worthy part of it was the incompetence of Hezbollah to be so utterly caught in the scheme.

I don't think you could even pull A Night of the Long Beeps on the Taliban because they didn't have a centralized command structure or logistics chain. Israel was able to pull it off because Hezbollah bought it all in bulk and distributed it to their officers. Your average Taliban cell leader probably just uses a cell phone he bought with his own money.

You're running the risk of having the pagers be incompatible. You want the same types of pagers for simplicity's sake, but they should have procured them in small numbers from multiple vendors minimize the risk of their being tampered with.

The United States was always using SIGNET spookery to track down and kill Taliban leadership. The issue is we essentially killed off all their senior leadership (a few times over) who had any degree of trust in wireless or digital based communicaitons. The surviving head honchos had long cultivated actual low tech lines of communication and supply that would have required HUMINT assets to compromise. And that was super difficult for us with how corrupt and hilariously compromised the Afghan security forces were. So we DID hear a lot about it when the US did it. That was just 15-20 years ago.

Grim Beeper isn't talked about as much cause given that the IDF and Mosssad have been up to much more recent wacky chicannery.
