Ukraine has been trying pretty hard to not alienate the Chinese government, the countries actually had pretty good relations before Russia invaded. Its why they humored the Chinese peace plan despite it obviously not going anywhere (it being dead in the water made it safer to actually entertain), trying to help China build international soft power as a negotiator.
