Keeping in mind the POTUS is a big idea man who can't be bothered by little detail or anything factual
What is driving this sudden wish for a F55?
https://breakingdefense.com/2025/05/f55-f22-f47-trump-wants-a-twin-engined-f35-experts-say-its-not-feasible/
https://en.defence-ua.com/weapon_and_tech/twin_engine_f_35_called_f_55_trumps_fantasy_or_a_real_modernization_plan-14531.html

Did someone infect the POTUS with the idea that more engine is better?
So real men need a VTOL fighter that has 2, 3 or even 4 engines to do better than the Chinese?

Guess he likes talking big as usual and will change his mind next day.

Desire to cancel stuff started by other presidents administration so he can leave his own mark in history. No matter if it fucks up military procurement for decades to come. Only thing that matter to Trump is himself and products branded with his name.
>Did someone infect the POTUS with the idea that more engine is better?
More and bigger is always better, but you can even better if you gold plate it.

It would be an entirely different air frame. It should never have been related to the F-35 since it would have to come from a different assembly line.
They'd have to widen the aircraft. The B model is 3,000 pounds heavier than the A model but with less internal payload.
Also, fuck chink shills and Xi.

>The Defense Priorities Foundation, also known as Defense Priorities, is an American foreign policy think tank based in Washington, D.C., that advocates for more restrained US foreign policy.
>Defense Priorities was established in early 2016 by supporters of United States Senator Rand Paul and funded by conservative donors Charles Koch and his brother David Koch. Early leadership included William P. Ruger of the Charles Koch Institute and Edward King of a pro-Paul political action committee. The organization was founded to advance Paul's foreign policy views, which argued for a "more prudent, restrained" United States foreign policy.[3][4]

Because he is the one implying 1 engine make the F35 inferior.

Frankly, ignoring his emotional rambling, someone must have sold him the idea of a F22 large fighter with 2 engines except VTOL. Even for him I doubt he forgot he already has a F47 on the way.
Not even a bomber like some others anon seem to be pushing.

You can't just make a single engine jet twin engine or vice versa because the airframe is designed for thrust loading, G loading, intake area ect.
I think he's just doing the typical egomanic thing of "I know best" on topics he doesn't have a vauge understanding of, see Stalin & Hitler for the same mindset leading to terrible military procurement.

the point of 2 engines is redundancy. While the F-35 is pretty damn reliable if you look at flight hours:incident ratio, several of the unrecoverable incidents were engine failure related. Twin engine designs are inherently less vulnerable to that sort of thing.

In terms of the entire Trump butting in to the F-35 program thing, it's an aesthetics thing. He thinks twin engines look better. He's right but also, it's not right for the F-35. You run into issues trying to kludge together 2 engines into an airframe designed to be single engine.

Trump's wish is that his narcissism got real bothered by lack of attention towards him in that press conference/day/week/month so he started rambling and made up some bullshit that would give him a excuse to appear in front of the cameras and have people talking about him.

The B-2 has Boeing landing gear. IIRC 757 gear. It also has composite skins and structural sections made by Boeing - as does the F-22. As well as Boeing in charge of systems integration. Furthermore, the code used on the X-47B carrier UCAV was helped along by Boeing's code from the X-45A UCAV program. You can knock Boeing all you want, but, they're responsible for some of the most cutting-edge technology the US has to offer. They're the world's leading experts in composite structures, and that's why just about every US platform exploiting composites goes to Boeing for their expertise in design and most importantly manufacturing large scale composite parts. Also, that pic is majority BS.

Except that's not what is happening. What's happening is that every time a picture of a J-35 or any other chink plane gets posted americans go into a rage since they are reminded that they are falling behind in development with nothing to show for it. Saging and telling actual chink spammers to fuck off is one thing, having a meltdown everytime you see a chinese plane means being buckbronek. Maybe you'll cry about wanting a safe space?

>NOOOO IT'S THIS FANTASY INSTEAD

people will pre-empt shilling if it happens often enough, it's that simple.
you can get angry at chinks for ruining discussion, they caused this.

>I love blimps and consider their fall into obscurity a tragedy
Aerostats are still doing big work. I used to drive out to one on my old base just to sit and think and be away from things for a while

There should be a standing general for ROW systems. All the America bigots can pop in and "IMPLESSIVE" before fucking off and the thirdies can make their vague insinuations, and somehow between the two, a few people will actually talk about cool and interesting shit being made mostly by China/Brazil(and a bunch of garbage made by India/Russia)

That's what happens now except the threads rarely pass 100 posts because there's always 2-4 of them up at a time. Not to mention the fact that they always come pre-loaded with barely concealed insecurity and seething.

being ruled by a squirrel with adhd and dementia is no less bad when it sometimes makes good decisions because a particular handler got the most talk time that day

>sudden wish for a F55?
Single engine aircraft crash more in training because engine out probably means bailout. For combat it doesn't matter as much.

Trump will "change his mind" the moment he hears a new idea or the moment his current idea doesn't gain traction. Don't think he's invested in the F55. Also they should have called it the DJT47
