2). The top rail on the handguard has some weird geometry issues
3).The midwest stock latch is questionable
4). The top cover doesn't play nice with actual AK sidelining stocks (actual being Ak-100 series and triangle stocks, anything that uses the side latch)

I don’t get people who try to turn an AK into an AR or a SCAR. The more you make an AK act like another rifle, the more it’s just kind of a miserable facsimile of what you actually want. The ideal AK is a fixed stock or MPi-KMS-72 or similar wire side folding stock rifle with the stock dust cover and a stock gas tube. Ideally it would be in 7.62x39 with a 310mm barrel, and optionally it will have a side rail for a dot sight, a dong forend, and a light mount that clamps to the barrel. More than this is a recipe for dissatisfaction, but this is the most distilled version of what makes the AK great that I can think of.

That's probably not going to be much of a problem, honestly. Even on a vanilla railed Saiga handguard, which is flimsy as fuck, the POI shifts by like a foot at 100m if you bend it on purpose. That thing's a lot more rigid so it probably won't shift more than an inch or two

An adjustable stock is not better to use unless you are constantly changing between wearing plates and not wearing plates while shooting, and that’s weird sperg behavior even for gun autists. Commit to the bit and always wear armor or don’t. What is actually best is fitting a stock to you if the original isn’t ideal. Between “nato length” AK stocks and butt plate spacers for Warpac style fixed stocks, and the expedient of simply welding a new chunk into a rh wire folder, if you don’t like how an AK fits you, you can fix it (though honestly unless you’re unusually tall, a WarPac stock is going to be “good enough”).

My adjustable stock AR is set to my preferred length length (1 notch from full extension) and I haven't changed it in years. I've got 2 others with A1 length stocks and I wouldn't give a shit if I swapped the adjustable stock for a third. I understand people who say they want to shorten their stocks when wearing armor, but if that's not you (it's not me), your ideal length is not going to change unless you're still getting your puberty growth spurt.

Ammo prices have settled, and new production noncorrosive brass case M67 7.62x39 is only like 8-10 cpr more expensive than 5.56, because the Balkan countries are filling the gap left by Biden's sanctions on Russian ammo. Yes it's not at cheap as it was back in the day, but literally nothing is. Poland, Romania, and Israel are US allies and are not getting sanctioned. The aftermarket is improving to make up for the loss of Russian parts. The only things that really shake up the market every now and again are either Serbia pausing arms exports or the US-based companies like KUSA going tits up. Even Pioneer Arms is back from the dead after it went bankrupt like a year ago. There are more budget options for babby's first AK now than ever. Because the advantage of the crutch style side folder is simplicity and a slim snag less profile while folded and the fixed stock, whether Nato length or WarPac length, offers the classic profile enshrined on even national flags, the most robustness, a nice snag free profile, and the correct amount of drop for use with irons or tightly mounted dot sights, while almost all adjustable stock mounts are either inline profile (more unnecessary AR cargo cult, because it’s not right for AK sights unless you are using some tall ass shit), or a giant nasty block of CNC garbage, or secured with undersized fasteners in simple shear, or are plastic garbage, etc etc.

its riley def forged trunnions bolt and bcg and green mountain barrels. ran one of the early ones from rifle dynamics from an SOT that obtained one and they said they had 2000 rounds through it, 250 round spurts in full auto at a time then air cooled in the shade for 30 minutes.
