Tanks and IFVs numbers have dropped dramatically this year. New builds are slow to come.
Artillery shells are depleted, mostly relying on North Korean supply, which by the numbers suspected is reaching towards their end also. Again, the rate of producing new ones is not enough.
Are motorcycles + drones enough to push with?

the russians will keep pushing regardless of the fact that what they have is "enough to push with"
which it already isn't now.
the only result of them sticking their heads in the sand as to their situation is that total zigger death will increase at an ever faster rate.
russian daily casualty rates keep reaching new record highs, they'll keep pushing even when they're losing the attritional war.

The Ukrainians are not dumb enough to try crossing those minefields again while the Russians are still defending them
The plan is to force a retreat by attacking elsewhere until the lie defending the mine belt is rendered untenable, at which point engineers can clear lanes through the mines without coming under attack

afvs are mostly death traps now, which is something people need to realize.

russia does this:
>bombs fortifications, fields and tree-lines; high sortie rates
>artillery doing the same, but also drone directed; high volume of fire
>drones everywhere; interdicting roads almost constantly
>foot-mobile troops push forward once they deem it relatively safe enough
>line moves forward and the whole thing happens again

russia isn't "choosing" not to go with them, they are forced into a less protected mobility option because the destroyed most of the good ones.

Not really. The Ukies need to make their offensive focus eliminating the Sukhois and getting rid of the FAB plague. Spider Web was a fun flex on the Ziggers but realistically it would have been much better to blow up 40 Sukhois instead.

In any case that's not a target you destroy with regular infantry, it's a SBU/Air Force thing. It should be their main effort right now, but it's not really appearant that it is

The turning point for that is total artillery death. It was rapidly approaching, but then Big Kim stepped in and started supplying his new dog with barrels and shells. Not enough to actually win mind you, the longer russia depends on Best Korean weapons the better off Best Korea is. But enough to prevent attritional losses from resulting in stretches of the front where russia has no artillery at all. That's part of the reason there's been a massive uptick (and subsequent shilling about, remember all that?) in the smekalka glide bombs, because that's all russia has to throw at most offensive operations. The problem there is it results in accumulating attrition on airframes which are a far more finite resource than artillery. It really depends on how long it's going to take to attrite enough barrels, there are sections of the front where Ukraine has local fire parity which, considering russia started the war with a 7:1 advantage, is insane to think about. Drones play a small factor but the reality is you can't assault a minefield protected by artillery without taking massive losses, and you can't defend a minefield from any mechanized assault without artillery.

FABs are localised front line level tactical threats, heavy bombers that can launch cruise missiles are theater level strategic threats. Reducing the ability of russia to spam missiles protects not only your critical infrastructure and backline logistics, it increases the wear rate on the remaining airframes. The Sukoi spam is a problem for the guys defending hamlet #32576 (prewar population 200, total attacker casualties to reach outskirts 2000) but it's not going to lose the war. The planes can't fly forever, they are losing them above replacement rate, and even then it's not doing anything to the overall broader picture.
>so why is Ukraine fighting so hard over these tiny villages then?
Because they're attriting the hell out of the russian forces to the point that we're talking about how they're sending men into combat on electric scooters and Ladas with one or two T-72s hiding in the back for two weeks waiting until there's nothing but bloody rubble to advance towards. Then they get to do it all over again five km down the road.
>but they still advance
Every month it's slower, more costly, and with continuously worse equipment.

Russia can't really afford to do that, because:
a) it would give initative to Ukraine, who could finally start more or less freely employing western style fast movement and breach tactics
b) russia is reliant on the artillery, and it has been attritioned to parity or worse with Ukraine who still has range advantance
c) russia requires "something to show" for the homefront even if they are advances measured in meters.
d) russia seems to think that those advances also show the west that "russia is stronk" for some reason.
e) russia needs to have their mobiks in move so that they dont start thinking or plotting too much

If russia starts suddenly actually pushing for ceasefire, you can be pretty sure that russian forces are at breaking point and they would need to switch to defensive to survive at all.

So all trolling aside, how do we fix this conundrum?

1- APCs/IFVs are too conspicuous targets and more likely to result in mass cas when targeted by precision munitions, we've never had a situation where precision munitions like FPV drones were this cheap and prevalent all over the front, ATGMs were cumbersome and limited in numbers.

2- Light vehicles/bikes can speed past FPV drones (mostly) and are less profitable targets, but offer no protection from area of effect indirect fire weapons or from a simple machinegun in a camouflaged position and your assault will be cut down easily when you come near the enemy position.

They're less likely compared to no AFVs. Nor can motorbikes speed past FPVs.

The easy approach is swarming the air with your own drones supported by artillery to clear an area and the traditional one which still works is upgraded armor attacks with jammers, AA guns and so on. Western armies are investing in both.

Late 2022 early 2023 was a low point for russia, the quality of their recruits and equipment they had was terrible. They still rely on artillery for most of the work and they air force was parked doing mostly nothing.
Reorganizing stocks, creating larger refurbishment lines, adding ways to recruit people without declaring an official war, etc. They're using imported shaheds too because the stock of soviet cruise missiles was almost depleted (they still had like +1000 because the pre-war stock was huge, +5000)

Ukraine chose early 2023 for their offensive because they knew that and the fact it was temporary, the real attrition takes time because they're destroying deployed weapons, not in storage.

The solution is to raise the capability floor needed to hit them back to ATGM level. Every IFV needs a point defence system, be it laser, maser, shotgun or machinegun based, along with a jammer to protect itself. I imagine that cope cages will get more popular too, just extend existing slat armor packages over the roof

I totally agree with that, but there's some merit to the idea, dispersion is one way you increase your force's protection factor, if it takes 12 FPVs to kill 12 bikes instead of 6 to kill an APC with 12 infantryman inside, you doubled your force's protection.

Kind of feels Russians have ran out of strategy. Doing motorcycle charges into mines, mortars, drones and machinegun positions will lead to marginal territory gains at a substantially higher casualty rate. This would require ever increasing signing bonuses, while the state is already failing to balance the budget this year.
I don't see any other option than a new forced mobilization wave coming in 2025

Dispersion is a good idea, but I don't think it really filters down that well to the individual level like that. 12 dudes in an APC are still substantially more protected than 12 dudes on motorbikes (who aren't even substantially faster given terrain difficulties), you're just hoping that they're too spread out to get all of them and that the survivors will accomplish something worthwhile. It feels more like
>we have to resort to this to get anything going
rather than
>yes this is a good and effective idea

Obviously it kinda works but obviously it kinda doesn't work that well.

TOTAL DIGGER DEATH
if you meant ukrainians somehow i'm not defending them, they're perfectly capable of defending themselves, as proven by the ridulous rate of daily dead ziggers.

most of them left to ukraine though, and the remainder you imported will now be fighting you tooth and nail for the rest of their lives, they will sabotage any military effort rather than help it, and have already done so, which is why russia coping about holding onto the territories it has managed to, is so impotent.

about ~18% at the time of it's collapse
but GDP was measured somewhat differently
as well as military spending

the 18% included infrastructure, lots of research (even kinda unrelated stuff like undergrad programs) etc. and excluded export earnings
and again GDP was calculated weirdly

just for reference
>Russia will spend ~7.2% of its GDP on military in 2025

also as ironic as it sounds, but importantly
Russias government spending quote (by GDP) is at ~38%
while communist USSR was at ~30% (towards it's end)
which makes it more difficult for Russia to spend more / less flexibility as you strangle the economy even more if you divert spending quickly

Tanks cost 5x-10x the cost of an IFV/APC. Remove tanks as a concept and double IFV/APC numbers. Make dedicated SHORAD vehicles out of part of those. Also now every APC/IFV should always be half empty so in case of failure there are fewer losses and personnel can comfortably shuffle between vehicles as long as the losses stay below 50%.

Russia does that because they have local shortages of AFVs across the entire front at this point. They will never truly run out but they've gotten a lot rarer just because Russia is losing them faster than they can replace or restore them. It's a hilarious cope to believe that they're choosing to do this shit. AFVs offer superior protection against drones and motorbikes have only a slight concealment advantage due to observation drones having high quality cameras.

Well designed 'cope cages' ar fairly effective protection against FPV drones, but even the most effective protection in the world doesn't matter if you're sending like 3 unsupported tanks into an open field. All of the videos you see don't cover the other 40 drones it took to finally get a kill on that isolated vehicle that was doomed by the terrible mission structure more than its technical faults as a vehicle.

>>64003553
Ukraine doesn't have effectively infinite disposable manpower like Russia does. Their only real path to victory is attriting Russia until they get local or general collapses in morale/logistics. That's more or less how Kharkiv and the Kiev gestures of goodwill happened.
Neither side is actually going to lose the war due to lack of manpower though. Ukraine still isn't full in on mobility because it wants to preserve some semblance of a potential future.

russia is consuming things faster than it is building them, meaning that it is by definition running out and will keep having to restrict usage of these things further and further until they have almost no presence on the battlefield.

>Ukraine loses another city.
Yes, the fall of the great metropolis and economic center of Nowherevilski (pre-war population: 8, plus Andriy's pet goat Sasha) is a calamity which Ukraine can not survive. A spectacular all-out strategic victory in conquering another 20 square miles which only cost russia 5000 lives. All is lost.

All night and all morning, it was flying and exploding, then ballistic missiles, then cruise missiles, then cluster bombs, then various shaheeds... The ground was humming and the sky was burning. It was hell. Apparently, the air defense systems that were supposed to protect the city and everything in the city went to protect two green asses, because that is probably the greatest value for Ukraine. They are not doing anything to protect Ukraine, but they are covering their asses with Ukraine. Green bots can start barking in my direction, you will never even dream of what happened in Pavlohrad. And the servants wrote 30 explosions of some kind and a little lamb from the flock of 73% who lives somewhere in Transcarpathia or Kyiv reads it and thinks it is bullshit. What is 30 arrivals? There were somewhere around 30 explosions every 5 minutes, starting from 3 to 5 hours, and then they were no longer missiles. I just don't understand why people lie? Why not write everything as it was? Are they afraid of losing their ratings?

We literally have proof that Russia uses starlink. Musk has said he has no sold any directly or indirectly to Russia, bit fucking weird they keep having them blown up
>w-w-well t hey captured them from hohols!
Enough of them to put them inside disposable Sneed drones? Musk is a businessman, he doesn't care where the money comes from, only that it does.

This is a guy who

1. Went onto /pol/ and posted about how Musk is so great and has lots of sex, look at all the kids he has
2. Went onto /pol/ and asked (before he bought Twitter) for people to raid accounts that were being 'mean' to him
3. Went onto /v/ and claimed he was a top ranked Diablo IV player (and some other game) and turned out he pays people to play it instead (which is weird because you can just p2w on Diablo IV)
4. Guy who made multiple burner accounts on twitter to shill himself
5. Guy who made an AI to pretend he isn't said burner accounts but accidentally spoke himself instead of using the AI and outed that he was just talking to himself

You really think an autistic billionaire is against side money? As long as he isn't punished, he'll do whatever. He wants Russia to win, but also wants to say he tried his best to help Ukraine so it's their fault they lost.

By using the grim tactic of meat waves with barrier troops. Basically, trading a few meters of ground per day for a thousand casualties. At this point, we are not talking about kilometers, but things like a flower field, a tree line, a cucumber patch etc.
So unless this is what "taking territory" means to you, they are, in fact, not taking territory.

the only resource russia can spare plenty of is people. oil extraction is the only source of income of russia and it's not very people intensive. with that (ever decreasing and sanctioned) income they can buy chinkshit drone components and motorcycles. then with their people they can keep an endless meat trickle. they can send shasneeds. a few ballistic missiles or plane bombs too once in a while.

they can do that for measly gains but it's not going to "push" really. meanwhile ukraine should keep bombing russia's shit inside so they lose all their remaining fancy capabilities in all fields and are truly reduced to nothing more than a meat trickle. then it's waiting for the regime to crumble because there is no more money.

It's a mix of cynicism and love of gain + money while also wanting, needing, choosing an enemy to hate and to produce crazy, chauvinistic nonsense propaganda about -- and then feeding from that same trough -- because it's the only thing in Russia that allows the population to experience a nationwide simultaneous collective orgasm (in absence of science, the country's own culture, and other factors). This is an army which plundered their own people while "liberating" Kursk.

The popular mind has an image of drone swarms making meat waves obsolete. The reality of the war is that Ukrainian logistics vary wildly between units, drone "swarms" are nonexistent and only a few drones can be in the sky in a given area at a time, drones are often rare items, and jamming or weather can make them worthless for long periods.

Russia can keep throwing small team or squad size attacks forward constantly and there aren't enough drones to stop even a third of them. Traditional infantry do most of the stopping. They're rationed too. So Russia advances in an agonizingly slow trickle.

Operation unthinkable would have lasted however long it took to build and drop nukes on Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad, and any other major russian cities. The red airforce would have lasted a month, maybe two at most against the RAF and USAAF l especially without the constant flow of American avgas. All the industry the soviets had built up would vanish in either mushroom clouds or round the clock bombardment from B-29 fleets. Allowing the ussr to recover from the war was, as Patton put it, losing the peace.

I'm going to assume that the number of Russians who die on any given day as a direct result of military operations in Ukraine (KIA, DOW, and DOI put together) runs well over a thousand. The source for daily Russian casualty estimates comes from the Ukrainian ministry of defense and they're only counting the ones that they can visually confirm killing. Wounded presumably aren't being counted and men confined to the infirmary with Typhus definitely aren't.

>can fit in buildings an APC, IFV, or tank would have to smash through a wall to get in
>could easily come with things like IVAS's capabilities and other HUD elements built in
>FAR more durable than even a well armored regular infantryman
>the ultimate in building breacher kit
I know hating power armor is basically a /k/ meme and has been for ages but it gets old quick. If you had access to power armor like Fallout's T-60 and it was functional you'd have to be retarded to refuse it. Biggest problem for power armor isn't GOTTA GO FAST, regular infantry aren't exactly fast either. The problem is the power supply to actually run the machine.

All that said even with power armor you're still gonna get whacked by drones and arty or step on a mine if you try to just waltz on through a well defended minefield. APCs, IFVs, and tanks usually aren't going to fare any better either. Without doing things like suppressing or destroying enemy arty, gaining at least temporary air superiority, and countering their recon and suicide drones enough for mine clearing vehicles to do their work you're just gonna die. Even with all that it's still not going to be a cakewalk.

To put it bluntly, Russia is fucked. They can't do any of the things they absolutely have to do to get a really solid breakthrough and the small. The Ukrainians seem to have learned their lessons and have the luxury of just sitting back and inflicting as many casualties as possible even if territory is slowly being lost. The war is effectively over unless something major happens that allows the Russians to make actual gains and stop being bled like a stuck pig for every inch. Basically the Ukrainians have to run out of everything or the Russians have to get resupplied.

To hold on as long as he can before the inevitable political and economical collapse, pretty much. Even if the war stops right now there's no way the russian economy will be what it was before 2022 for at least a decade or two, and it wasn't good before either. The loss of a massive chunk of the young workforce and mass migration of people with education will be Russia's undoing in the future. Russians are like cattle, but I don't think there is anyone else besides Putin who can keep the federation going at this moment, because he got rid of anyone who might've had. It will be like the constitutional crisis of the 90s all over again.

It's just /pol/ being /pol/ dude. They're just a bunch of retards who bet on a losing pony and are too stupid to realize you don't have to hold that bet when there's not actually any collateral down on it. They are desperate for "their" side to actually get some wins but don't realize there aren't any to be had just due to how many men and how much equipment the Ukrainians will kill/destroy before the city can fall only to be followed by the next year long grind of the Russians trying to leave it. They're balls deep in sunken cost on something they're not even involved in.
Meanwhile over here on /k/ we're still angry that we've been told Russia is so strong and capable with weapons that are totes 4 reel amazeballs all our fucking lives only to watch for years as Ukraine holds them to unbelievably costly tiny gains and drives several bits of Soviet armor to near extinction levels. We have been mercilessly blueballed by Russia's incredible incompetence but at least we're getting plenty of footage to watch those idiots pay for their unbelievably idiotic mistakes.
The war should've been over in no more than 6 months with a clear Russian victory if they really were the #2 military on earth. Instead they're just a bunch of #2 while the Ukrainians have proved themselves surprisingly competent and capable.

Can't Ukraine just use helicopters, gliders or fucking cessnas to airdrop troops into Russia's back line at this point? It's high risk, but the slowly-bleed-the-bear tactic basically relies on the idea that a rerun of the Somme is acceptable in the face of hostile invasion. While their fibre-optic drones are still a threat, I don't think they have manpads available anymore that can take down anything in the air anymore, so the Russian skyline is almost all-clear at night.

They've been able to sneak into Russia using drone-planes before. Why not send a few into the occupied territory to scout their AD in the area before making an airial push?

It is the 21st century. For more than a dozen years The Monke has sat immobile in his bunker in the Kremlin. He is the Master of Ruskind by the will of banan, and master of a million vatniks by the might of his inexhaustible corruption. He is a manlet seething visibly with power from the Dark Age of Communism. He is the Simian Lord of the Steppes for whom a hundred mobiks are sacrificed every day, so that he may never truly lose.

Yet even in his decrepit state, the Monke continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty rustbuckets cross the drone-infested miasma of the Black Sea, the only warm-water port to distant lands, their way lit by the Copenomican, the psychic manifestation of the Monke's will. Vast armies give battle in his name in uncounted villages. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Veh Deh Veh, the Blyat Marines, vodka-addled super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Rosgvardija and countless PMC forces, the ever vigilant FSB and the priests of the Russian Orthodoxy to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat from Ukies, democracy, prosperity - and worse.

To be a vatnik in such times is to be one amongst untold millions. It is to live in the most dysfunctional and corrupt regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been embezzled, never to be re-aquired. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark present there is only banan. There is no peace amongst the steppes, only an eternity of dedovshchina and alcoholism, and the shrieking of thirsting Monke.

This is kind of the same logic that was used in Hostomel where the Russians just assumed that the airborne troops would be able to hold on long enough for reinforcements coming via land to reinforce them.
Blindly yeeting men into the enemies backline with no further plan than just "break shit" just leads to all those men dying and the equipment being lost.

The disbarred Greek lawyer in UK is still putting out his videos (which all get similar amounts of views and always have the same commentors, often multiple posts) and STILL says it is over for Ukraine despite saying that for years. I don't think these people even believe it. They just know they get views if they post it.

Then again there are channels like The Military Show which do the same, except from Ukraine's perspective
>Ukraine CRUSHES Russian defences!!!!!!

Securing areas in Russian-controlled territory, for one. Maybe setting up medvac for Ukrainian civillians in the area if they weren't all slaughtered by the apes. Flexing on Russia that they have air-support and they don't. I don't have any real plan with it, but I'm just saying it's another option on their toolbelt they can use for preemptively countering offenses and regaining ground.

The USSR is in flames. Stalin's glorious vision for Homo Sovieticus is in ruins. His favoured son, Monke, has turned from his Communism's spectre and embraced Oligarchaos.

His armies, the mighty and redoubtable Russian Armed Forces, are locked in a brutal special military operation against the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Once, these Soviet warriors fought side by side as brothers, protecting the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and bringing the people of Europe back into the Russkiy Mir. Now they are divided.

Some Soviets remain loyal to the Tsar, whilst others have sided with the Warmaster Zelensky. Pre-eminent amongst them, the elite of their thousands-strong mobik are the VDV. Magnificent, superhuman beings, they are the crowning achievement of Soviet dedovschina tradition. Thrust into battle against one another, victory is uncertain for either side.

Airports are burning. At Hostomel and Chornobaivka, Zelensky dealt a vicious blow and three loyal Vozdushno Dsantnye Voyska were all but destroyed. War has begun, a conflict that will engulf the steppes in fire. Treachery and betrayal have usurped honour and nobility. Assassins lurk in every shadow. Armies are gathering. All must choose a side or die.

Zelensky musters his horde, Crimea itself the object of his wrath. Seated upon Golden Banan, Monke waits for his wayward son to return. But the true enemy is NATO, a primordial force that seeks to enslave mankind to democracy and prosperity.

The screams of the T-14, the pleas of the mobiks resound to the cruel laughter of Monke. Suffering and damnation await him should he fail and the war be lost.

The age of the Happiness of all Russkind has ended.
The Age of Monke has begun.

>not sure what monke's plan really is here.
There isn't one.
He is not seeking tangible military or diplomatic goals now - it's about enjoying being center of attention, star of the show, arbiter of thousands of fates, a global shit-stirrer-in-chief.
If he can't be accepted, respected and treated (as what he perceives as)as equal by "cool boys club"(US/west in general) - he at least can inconvenience them.
Anyone who believes he is desperate/panicking, or "can't find an off ramp", or "hasn't been offered a good fair deal to stop the war" is dumb or delusional.
When initial plan of "kinda like crimea, but bigger" flopped maybe he panicked, but now - now he's living the dream, enjoying his life as never before.

Not using tanks, duh
Probably because:
1. They dont have that many left and are scared they could need them against other enemies (NATO, china, other post-soviets)
2. Having them blow up all the time looks bad and hurts morale
3. Their impact is not really worth the constant repairs/training new crews/supply
Honestly, should probably have stopped using them in large numbers after the kharkiv offensive when the 1st guards tank got clapped

>couldn't they also go full retard and use it to open a front with either finland or latvia?
not really

most euro militaries aren't in a great shape right now
they're improving / ramping up production fast everywhere though
but even now
there not a chance that Russia would get far

the main threat from Russia was always
>getting steamrolled by mechanized / tank brigades
which is highly unlikely given Russia's losses
Europes air defense and air to air missiles were always more advanced
and as seen in Israel-Iran, S-300 can do jack shit against F-35 (which some euro countries already have)

>due to US retardation
yeah, no
an invasion on EU soil would instantly trigger EU Article 42 (5)
which would put Germany at war
which would put 35k american soldiers stationed there at war
the us gov is retarded, but not not THAT retarded

>and still small size European troops covering the border.
10k EU troops in the Baltics
+ US
+ their own military
+ ton of EU / US marines nearby wit dozens of ships / subs
+ in range for most euro air forces
again, the risk was being steamrolled on the ground (and an overestimation of Russias air defense capabilities)
which Russia is in no shape of doing

>still wonder then to which units their tank production is going to
the refurbished or the new ones?

because neither are that much

upper estimates are max. 80 newly build T-90M in 2024
lower ones at 2 per month so ~24/y
with ~150 visually confirmed lost T-90M, that's not a lot

Uralvagonzavod is building a new factory (line)
but that won't open until November / December this year (and another one 2027)
which is why those crazy propaganda numbers of 300+ tanks/year are always
>coming 2026/27

>haven;t seen them piled up somewhere.
they "filled up" some bases around the country
among those one in Finland - which did produce some news
"filled up" because they borrowed these tanks and left the actual units without anything

>Haven't seen them be used on the frontline in months
uh huh??
Russia lost 2 t-90 in june, 1 und may, 4 in April and 4 in March, 3 in feb, 3 in January
this year. visually confirmed

that's 3/month on avg the the last 6 months
which would track 1:1 with the lower estimates of production

>past couple of months
Putin has been struggling to cope with his new nato border for years. Lots of new infrastructure projects, not so much personnel nor tanks because it was all wasted in ukraine back in 2023.

I guess it's imaginable that he could go full retard and attempt suicide by cop just so he can tell his slaves that see we were fighting nato all along.
But I find it unlikely. Despite being the world's worst strategist and living in an information bubble brought on by his yes-men and corrupt regime, he isn't suicidal.

Actually very interested in what ESL this poster was. Or if it just was American geography.

meant near Finland
>just posturing?
but no
Russian gov seems to see NATO as a thread
which I absolutely don't understand

and you generally want to maintain some border protection
(except with countries you're in a close military & economic partnership in)

from a strategic perspective (no matter the threat from your neighbors)
it's absolute catastrophic to deplete your major border units of tanks
they probably haven't had a proper exercise in 2y+ now

The plan is to import no less than 11 (yes, eleven) million pajeets and niggers by 2030, because that the level of labor shortage the government agencies project due to demography shit. Those additional 11 million migrants are needed to keep the current level of economy, i.e. to avoid an internal collapse.
