KYS faggot
>>64008131I dunno, I don't put optics on my pistols as you can see.
>>64008131Yea the sro breaks really easy, you could carry one just make sure you never drop it or bang it on anything
>slide mounted safety
ergonomic disaster, dropped
What kind of .22lr pistols do anons have? I want a .22lr handgun but I'm not sure what good and what shit. I know the rugers are nice but a bit on the pricey side for a .22
>>64008083>Mixup98 is going on hiatus. Every day, we lose more of the original "GunTube"Well that sucks! Always liked his goofy ass for some reason.
>>64008172My bad didnt mean to reply to you lol
>>64008174All the tests people do to break it seem to be racking the slide one handed or dropping it straight onto concrete from 5 feet in the air, which seems pretty unrealistic. I suppose my actual question is if the new RMR HD is big enough to compete with the SRO and if its worth dropping that much cash for something more durable than what I have.
I've avoided 1911s for my entire life because I don't like .45 and think 1911s are too finicky, but my inner Steven Seagal calla out to me. Are 1911s worth it or are they really just overrated?
>>640082331911s are exactly as good as the amount of money you spend. They can go higher than basically every other platform but you have to put the cash and maintenance in
>>64008250What if I'm willing to spend $1000?
I'm here to say that the 226 is the best handgun since the hi power. If you disagree, it's because you are a homofaggot who likes men
>>64008131Fuck Trijicon and get a Holosun.
More features, better battery life, better functions, and even if it is "inferior" to the Trijicon in any way, you are getting 90-95% of what Trijicon offers at half the price.
Until Aimpoint figures out how to build a decent open emitter or shrinks down the ACRO so it doesn't look like a subway tunnel, the changs are actually doing a surprisingly good job and Trijicon is just coasting on reputation at this point.
>>64008233A 1911 that is well built/tuned is one of the most pleasant guns you can shoot. The problem is that most of those guns start at a ~$2000+ price point and GI 1911s are entirely underwhelming.
Entry level for a good 1911 would be a SA TRP or Dan Wesson, then moving up to something like a Nighthawk or Wilson.
Anything below that and you are buying a budget 1911 that has the exterior features of the nicer 1911s, but not the action tuning and finer details that will last for high round counts (10k+ a year), this is your turkshit, phlip, kimber, sig, etc. brands and they WILL have feedway and magazine issues like crazy if you are actually shooting a lot.
>>64008277I'm thinking of an S&W E Series because it had an external extractor, making it not as cringe as other 1911s
>>64008190I like a Mark, I love a TX22, a Grand Power is fine too
Don't like kits, don't like Keltecs, don't like Umarex
>>64008131SRO for carry is perfectly fine if you donโt bump your gun into things or drop it. The RMR HD has the same window as the RMR but moved upwards so 100% of the window is useful, where the RMR blocks 1/3 of it with the emitter deck.
>>64008277Fuck you. Never buy a Holosun if you can afford a Trijicon.
>>64008277holosun battery life is dogshit
>>64008312Your battery life is dogshit
>>64008281>external extractorOn any other gun the external extractor is an improvement, on a 1911 it's a gimmick.
Clean build up on the extractor claw if you notice any, and remove/clean the extractor and channel once every 1k rounds and your extractor should at the least make it to 6k rounds.
You'll still need to do the same with an external extractor, but with the added inconvenience of having to vice the slide and drift the pin to do so.
When the extractor does break, you will have to tune/bend it, but it's really not difficult to learn once you've done it.
1911s are an older/outdated design, they're going to come with certain quirks that you'll have to learn like the extractor or magazine/ammo/slide stop tuning to get reliable slide lock without ball ammo actuating the release, etc.
That's why the nicer brands that are actually tuned at the factory make a big difference, aside from just slapping a beavertail on it and calling it good.
>>64008289Hey Burt how does the Ounce shoot for you?
A friend turned me onto them and I have a morbid curiosity.
>>64008281The E Series is good.
The Springfield TRP line is good, I hate their new rollmark, I prefer the older MODEL 1911A1 CAL 45 they used to put in the them. You can still get the old ones as โCalifornia compliantโ models or used.
Kimber just released a NEXT GEN 1911 at a 1k price point, external extractor, optic cut, front strap serrations, bobtail cut, etc that seems to be good. The external extractor fixes one of biggest issues 1911s have which is that the internal extractor has to be tuned right + it loses tension over round count. Hard steel internal extractors need to be tuned every 5-10k rounds. An external one doesnโt need any tuning and just needs the spring changed out every one in a while. The 1911 originally had an external extractor but the army made JMB do an internal, the internal extractor he did is an every elegant solution and thatโs why purists still like them.
>>64008186Do that shit again and I'll have to take OP matters into my own hands. Burt's opinion be damned, you hear me
>>64008281E series is a good gun, however the grip screws rattle loose, the gun does not come with o rings for the grip screws so you will need to buys some for it.
>>64008346Kill yourself glocktroon
>>64008359Fuck up, Berettroon. This warning doesn't concern you
>>64008306>Jew worshipper image>Fuck you, buy an overpriced RDO with worse glass, battery life, and a bunch of inferior features like having to unmount your dot to replace a battery because it's made by trijikikelol, lmao, thanks for the advice rabbi.
>>64008331Pretty fantastic actually! It's incredibly tolerant of different ammo types and power, it's unbelievably low recoil* and despite having vestigial sights it's still pretty usable. It goes about 1,500 rounds at a time before it needs cleaning. It's still not worth $900 for practical carry but it's absolutely worth $900 as an incredibly unique curiosity; it's not junk like a Thunderstruck, Armatix or Lifecard.
>>>/wsg/5928027*It's seriously shocking, given how light the thing is. It recoils about the same as a heavy bull barrel or maybe less which is a contrast to something light like a TX22
>>64008388The only one that needs to be removed to change out the battery is the RMR, which is like once a year

>>64008416I will not be buying one if that's what you're asking
>>64008416Feature wise itโs very good, the ability to change DA/SA to SAO in the same frame is interesting. Not a big fan of them using P320 styling on the slide and how itโs still being made by Sig Sauer
>>64008416I will be buying 100,000
You better have that many produced by next month.
>>64008405>Parallax being an issue is not realDumbest optic-related statement I've heard in a while and still less clear glass.

It looks very good from the front imo
>>64008193The idiosyncrasies of the original "GunTube" were genuine and soulful. Today, it's vetbros and their dick riders doing performative retardation. Though I must admit that GT has improved since those 80's cho mo looking fags [Micah Mayfield and Charlie whateverthefuck] left the production

>>64008457I have heard of QC issues with their hammer fired guns, including the 2k P226 X5 editions
They are produced by the same company that has a product they know that goes off in the holster and does nothing about it. People have been injured, one or two people have died. The military has had discharges.

>>64008416SIG's whole design language is so ugly. Im still recovering from seeing their 1911 they made look like a 320, absolutely vile
>>64008496i disagree, i think sigs are some of the better looking hammer guns on the market. Like I love CZs but their shit is not cool like a 226
>>64008496>SIG's whole design language is so ugly. Im still recovering from seeing their 1911 they made look like a 320, absolutely vileRelative to what?
Blocky polymer framed guns that literally look like they are directly from N64 Goldeneye?
lol
If you like them, thats fine, miss me with that fag shit though
>>64008485If a company delivers a pistol that goes off randomly and lies about it. How can any of their products be trusted? Their bolt action rifle, the Cross, can go off with the safety on. They did recall that one. But not the P320, even after it was found to not be drop safe.
>>64008486No, I just write letters educating them about the USS Liberty and the Lavon affair.
>>64008502you misunderstand what im saying. Im not really a huge fan of the 226 but it is a fine gun aesthetically. Im talking about Nu-SIG design aesthetics which is how the P320 is cut. Theyve applied it to this new 226 and I dont like it that much
Why would anyone want their actual good Sig gun to look like the P320, easily the most hated modern handgun that has reached absolute meme status?
>>64008511Look at the P226X slide, it loses the classic styling and made the slide look like a P320 slide

>>64008416>>64008518>>64008524>loses the classic styling and made the slide look like a P320 slideWhy do they do this? The classic P22X is iconic.
I'm not a car guy, but this is the equivalent of releasing an EV with the body of a muscle car.
>>64008524The p226 X five and the P226 X Legion are literally different guns
Nothing is being lost lol
>>64008529All those big words you just said bounced off me like rain on a frog
What do you get from defending Sig. Iโm not hating on old production pre Cohen Sigs. They now make MIM parts in India now for the hammer fired line.
>>64008289What do you love about the tx22? That one is definitely on the shortlist for me
>>64008544Oh you are a thread destabilization tranny.
>>64008485Not whoever you're talking about but I like the P365 a lot and will never buy a Sig after their response to the whole controversy and unprofessional conduct. They've shown you can't trust the company
What other pistols are out there that fit these?
DA/SA
No safety
Decocker
Optic cut (rmr preferable)
I carry a 226 and so far the only things I can find would be the shadow 2 carry (rmsc cut).
>>64008534What holster do you use?
I bought a Safariland ALS for mine because I wanted to take my p226 when I was really out in the woods but its still kind of big despite the slim slide profile
>>64008537You have it backwards, it's like releasing a muscle car with the styling of an EV.
>>64008560I'm a faggot and swapped to T rex IWB holster. I CC my 226 with a x300 and RCR. I got the holster with the side car for the mag as well.
>>64008557>P365Thats a really sweet gun, the p365 XL is amazing, it sucks they discontinued producing it.
>>64008561Like I said, I'm not a car guy
>>64008544>Iโm not hating on old production pre Cohen Sigs.Honestly, even the older legacy SIG pistols aren't that great.
The impressive SIGs were always the Swiss made guns. The German produced stuff wasn't that great either.
Compare a P226 to an M9 or a USP and you'll understand why both of them outperformed and have outlasted the P226.
>t.buyersremorsewestgermansigowner
>>64008535its better than Cyceleefag who would shit a brick if you merely asked him to justify why a cyeleee shitbox was better than a Trijicon
>>64008537cuz nu_SIG is high on their own fumes and think its cool for shart their garbage design language all over everything because they think people will just auto buy it. I think those times are likely coming to a close now
>>64006954>>64006935Max Michel, Jr. uses P320s
Lena Miculek uses P320s
Daniel Horner uses P320s
Phil Strader uses P320s
Mason Lane uses P320s
This authoritative list of users convinced me the Sikh Saaar P320 is not a piece of shit. After all, how can it be when so much master shooters use it?
>>64007027Because their use of the gun doesn't negate the issues with the gun itself. You dickride others yet call others faggots, you cumbrained Gaylord. You take others' seed as much as you do their word.
>>64008559Langdon Tactical 92s and PX4s. The only one that I would call a carry pistol is the PX4 compact, the 92 Compact is just a small duty pistol and is harder to conceal than a G19 while reportedly the PX4 compact is about the same concealment wise as a G19.
The Shadow 2 Carry seems good. Great ad for it.
>>64008571>those times are likely coming to a closeHopefully.
>>64008578You listed 5 sell outs, Jena is an adulter and so itโs no wonder she would whore herself out for Sig.
Make a Wish Michael lol
>>64008583shadow 2 carry seems ok besides the price and the optic cut.
Beretta have safeties on all their offierings. HK doesn't have optic ready offerings. I'm not sure if it will be possible for me to swap from my 226 (no safety, decocker, DA/SA, optic ready)
>>64007082Yo, can I get the same thing for Gl*cks? No? Well instead of deferring to "authority" like you have I'll just think for myself and post some of my own

Reminder that all gl*cksuckers are paypigs.
>>64008590The Langdon Tacticals are decocker only, and the standard Berettas can accept decocker only levers.
Langdon Tactical also optic cuts HKs, like the USP and P30.
why don't you get your P226 optic cut?
>>64008588That's the point, I was shitting on gl*cktroon. The fact he doesn't trust himself to think and delegates his decisions to others is proof he is womanbrained. Now, nothing wrong with that, he'll just have to plug his mouth with a dick to shut it up. Preferably his own when he shoots it off when drawing IWB.
Why do you guys look up to Ben Stoeger, a wicked man who mocks Max Michel for having cancer?
>>64008609>Now, nothing wrong with that, he'll just have to plug his mouth with a dick to shut it up. Preferably his own when he shoots it off when drawing IWB.he doesn't carry IWB, he carries OWB with an airsoft holster and never practices from the holster
>>64008611to me, he's the next Paul Harrell in how he interacts with the audience. Half of his videos are responding to viewer comments and questions.
He will make fun of cancer patients and then drop top tier shooting advice videos like this one
https://youtu.be/rzXhfXtDeNE
>>64008569My 229 legion has been 100% reliable with basically zero upkeep on my part. I dunno what you want out of your carry piece besides that
>>64008602ah ok. Simply saw the safety/decocker and assumed. I'll look into those for now but I'll probably be sticking with my 226 for CC
>>64008547Super reliable, cheap, cheap mags, decently accurate (Competition model is MUCH more accurate with a dot), good trigger, very high capacity for class
The ONLY thing not to love is Taurus putting out some small number of sus barrels that keyhole or collect lead (you can look these up). They have a lifetime warranty and will replace it if you get one, but the possibility existing does suck. The chattered rifling (another """issue""") seems to be irrelevant, both mine have that but are still accurate and clean
>>64008616Paul Harrell wasn't a douche who would mock someone for a disease out of their control, and had a much wider knowledge of firearms. Ben's dramafagging is shameful to be honest
>>64008571I remember that guy! lol what a clown. I bought two acro p2s for $980 shipped. Put them on several different guns. No problems. Got a Viridian that came with a 22 pistol and it shit the bed on the first range trip. It was brand new. Replacement worked fine but wouldn't function after I got sweat on the emitter. Was fine after I wiped it out but on a defensive firearm its closed emitter, and I'm buying the good shit.
>>64008641Shut the fuck up, Ben is the hero we deserve. He's like Paul Harrell's asshole spiritual son.
>>64008650 Not even remotely. Paul was a genuine treasure but there are Bens everywhere.
Euro here. Just shot CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow. Other guns I've shot are Glock 35 and Glock 17. Is it just me or a pistol designed for sport shooting is better? I've literally only had 3 range trips so maybe it wouldn't matter for me.. Does pistol choice affect accuracy in novice shooters? I like CZ 75
>>64008680sport shooting pistols usually always have better triggers, better sights, are heavier so they have less recoil.
glocks are designed around being a cheap duty pistol and haven't really did anything "sporty" other than making the barrels/slide longer or converting their safe action striker to fully cocked with a lighter trigger
>>64008650Do not compare the two. Paul is on a whole other level. Leagues above, actually.
>>64008680This'll probably get some hate but, yes, sport guns are better than duty guns in basically every way except cost and maintenance
>>64008441>>64008475Here, just in case I'm not around to bake at page 3
Ben Stoeger reminds me of Paul Harrell by being nothing like Paul Harrell
>>64008648he was such an angry loser. Whats funnier is that they have proven to be absolute dogshit chinesium optics despite him adamantly insisting that they were just as good if not better. I wish he'd come back to rebuke the Ben Stoeger video how his conked out
I'm here to say that the Beretta 92 (and related) is the best handgun since the 226. If you disagree, it's because you are a homofaggot who likes men
>>64008694Not really.
His advice, he knows alot more about shooting but his videos were always geared towards novices and beginners. There should be a point where watching his videos there was nothing more for you to learn, I stopped watching his videos long before he died since there wasn't any relevant information other than his field cooking videos.
>>64008694I say Ben is similar is because both of them are educators, Ben really knows how to teach and what he teaches is good. His videos have lead to breakthroughs in my training. Honestly if you subscribe to Paul's teaching it will be very hard to get better
Paul knows alot about other things, but I don't think there is a better teacher than Ben for handgun shooting on the internet
>>64008671No there isn't. There is nobody else that shoots 100k rounds a year and do not have corporate sponsorships. He's free to speak and do whatever he wants. He bought a Staccato XC to specifically drop it in his garage to prove that it wasn't drop safe, he didn't make any friends doing that. Other high tier shooters are sponsored and forced to use certain equipment like guns or belt rigs and not able to share their opinions about them - they must say prepared rehearsed lines despite them hating their gear.

>>64008233They're great, but there's a reason why very few people mess around with them. Only worth it if you're a 1911 sperg. I would go with a lightweight 9mm commander.
>>64008743Word, Benโs advice on using floaty thumbs stopped me from getting weird horizontal fliers, and when he advocated for that, pretty much every other influencer was of the โyou need to make tons of high thumb contact on the gun frame to stop recoilโ opinion. When he told me to use only moderate grip pressure rather than death grip Charlie Perez style 150 lbs of crushing grip strength, I finally stopped having so much trigger freeze.
Ben has a habit of being right, imo.

>please log off the internet and talk to normal people for like, idk, a weekI don't see a denial. Denounce the talmud to prove where you stand.
>>64008789I think you or someone else mentioned Ben and then I started getting recommended videos on youtube. Just watching him shoot, listening to random shit he says, has made me better. That last video he posted "going faster" pretty much debunks alot of bad training where you need to get good at going slow and then speed up. Here he and Pranka say "go fast" and recognize the errors you make and try to correct them. Only by going fast can you get better at going fast. Ben talked about his own self taught experience at getting a sub 2 second bill drill
>first practice to get all 6 rounds out of the gun in 2 seconds >try to get them all on the paper in 2 seconds >try to get them all in the A zone in 2 seconds he said it only took him a day to get it down which seems impossible, but if I had a endless supply of ammo and a range to myself it seems like I could do it too.
>>64008533depends, do you walk by faith or no?
>>64008611I don't think Max has cancer, he just looks like a cancer patient to Ben
>>64008809Yeah, getting a sub 2 bill drill down in a day is freak of nature stuff. I think he also classified into GM in literally his first competition, too. A true idiot savant.
Compare this to Joel Park, the man of the people, who qualified as D class his first time out, top kek.
>>64008789Sounds useful, do you have a link for the videos in question? I shoot decent enough with my handguns but there's often a few fliers.
>>64008559>>64008583I just got a Landon px4. It is expensive but worth every penny. It's noticeably thicker than a g19 but conceals about the same. Decocker only so no safety, which isn't needed on a DA anyway. Carry levers are better than the stealth levers.
Landon transforms the pistol from forgettable to a must have. The DA trigger is phenomenal and the np3 barrel makes it smooth as butter. Best in class in my opinion.
>>64008590You can convert any Beretta to G model, which is decocker only. The Langdon models are G type, no safety.

>>64008633Burt why don't you have these blue anodized aluminum grips on your 1911?
I think they've been discontinued but there is still some stock they're selling on their website.
I just put a set of the slim, clear anodized ones on my Tisas and they're very nice.
The other day I ordered a Les Baer slide for a custom build, I had asked on the phone if I could get just the novak front sight dovetail cut because I was going to optic cut the gun. As soon as I said that I heard an older gentleman shout NO OPTIC CUTS. They were going to charge like 160 dollars for just the front sight cut, 415 to 580 for a stainless steel slide. I think that was Les Baer himself in the background.
>>64008951Les Baer is the most turbo boomer of all the "big name" custom 1911 makers. Just look at his website.

Paul's content is for beginners and novices. Standard information that should be common sense (it isn't unfortunately). His content is good at introducing people to shooting, his methods and information is dated but that's OK because new stuff is always evolving while old stuff isn't. Good foundational information. Only a few videos does he have rapid fire drills or anything that pushes people to the next level. Really his channel isn't about becoming a great shooter, it's more outdoors stuff and meat targets.
Ben however is always training, he's not trying to maintain his skill level because he's trying to get better himself. He regularly takes viewer questions about how to get better and answers them. He regularly uploads videos from his classes that people PAY to go to, he's giving you what people pay for for free.

While Ben just hits record and uploads, Paul put thought and effort into every production and made them all quality uploads. Ben is quick to say things based on what's on his mind, but Paul always kept an open and inquisitive mind while testing things out and fielding questions. Paul also had a much larger base of knowledge all the way from hunting, to being under fire, to killing several people in self defense.
Ben's a great resource for simply getting better at shooting mechanically, but he's really not anything like Paul except for the fact they both disliked Caleb

The brigadiers were from a time when heavier slides were thought to reduce felt recoil. Thatโs not the trend anymore, people think lighter reciprocating mass is better. The brigadiers have a slightly noticeably different recoil impulse than a standard 92. I wouldnโt say itโs worse, itโs kind of hard to tell.
With the brigadier or any other 92 with a removable front sight like the new 92X Inox, you can get wide notch Wilson Combat or Novak rears with really thin Dawson precision front sights. I like these sights a lot

- there will be some small annoying issue, that they will fix in 6 month to a year in a new model that will be more expensive
Does that about cover it?
At least it should be pretty reliable. The P22X platform is basically a tank. The only people who have ever had their dicks shot off by a 226 were getting shot at by SEALs.
Once you've carried any modern subcompact, It's nigh impossible to imagine carrying a P229 or even a G19 (I know people do, but I'm sure as hell not). I wish this platform could be miniaturized to the size of a P365. Is that just completely unreasonable?

Hello /hg/, I inherited a Colt 1991 Series 80 today. It was my grandfather's who passed Monday. He was in the Navy during Vietnam. As you can see, it needs a bit of TLC (he had been very sick for a while and was not able to maintain it properly). The serial number places it as being manufactured in 2000. Sorry for the blog post, I just don't have many friends who are nearly into firearms as me and figured I'd share a bit of the memory of my grandfather with some anons who would appreciate this small momento. Cheers!
>>64009896Sorry about your grandpa, but at least you have something to remember him by!
>>64009896Sorry about your grandfather, anon. There's no real good way to remove the light rusting on a stainless finish, but you can try to hit it with some steel wool and oil. Just go light with it. You could go nuts and just high polish the whole thing, though.
>>64009896F
nice inheritance, a more classic styled 1911. I just had the thought if you inherented a gun and it was the most tacticool P365 or P320 it wouldn't be as special in your collection. Oh that thing with the gold and red accents? That was my grandfather's shitpost
>>64009896Sorry about your granddad, I'll have to ask an uncle about what ever happened to my grand papa's automatic pistol. Only had seen it once 15 years before he passed away. I was nogunz at the time and wasn't able to ID it then
Thank you for the condolences
>>64009906>>64009907>There's no real good way to remove the light rusting on a stainless finishI figured as much, I was able to make it fade a bit with a brass brush (it was darker than it is in the picture) but I'm not expecting it to be spotless by any means.
>>64009912>Oh that thing with the gold and red accents? That was my grandfather's shitpostLol, 100% agreed. I think there is certainly something to be said for older handgun designs having "soul" while not necessarily being "better".
>>64009896Sorry to hear about your gramps. It's great you had that sort of relationship with him.
The surface rust is no big deal. As the other anon mentioned, try a little fine steel wool and oil to clean it up. Go ahead and get familiar with stripping it down to clean and lube and enjoy it.
>>64008101 (OP)traded my hk45 for a vp9l
>>64009992The slide doesn't match the frame. It's clearly not a button model. Idk if the previous owner was swapping shit around (he said he had another) or if HK switched to only buttons at one point didn't want to stamp two different things so they just started shipping mismatched guns
shot it today without lube everything worked fine
>>64009984Nice gat anon. I still firmly believe the P30/VP9 have the best grip and ergos of any polymer frame gun on the market to date. M&P in second.
>>64010023it's definitely a solid choice. I've held them all at this point and I really like the vp9 and p10 series the most, aside from glock. it's probably because i've been using glocks since I was 7 but I have a kneejerk "this feels weird" to anything I pick up that isn't a glock. the only one of the gtg poly strikers that I didn't love was the pdp, felt like there was a lot of unnecessary material buildup around the beavertail, but maybe my hands are just made for the female version

The use-case is leaving it folded in a backpack
You're better off having a concealed handgun that can be drawn quickly
But it's your money, man
Do whatever you want/think you need

>>64010793Imagine this IDPA stage.
Shooter starts sitting at a desk with an unloaded pistol, a Walther PDP. You have been abducted by Jigsaw from the hit series SAW, you are locked in a room with a wack a mole machine, there is no mallet. All you have is your Walther PDP. Jigsaw on the intercoms says that three of the most prolific gay rapists have been injected with horse aphrodisiacs and are waiting behind 3 doors to the left, right, and behind you. The doors will open as soon as the wack a mole game is over, you must win the game or the room will be filled with Hoppe #9 and youโll drown. You are free to go as soon as the doors open, as long as you get away unscathed.
