Glad I bought a Beryl a month ago instead of waiting on the K2. I will consider a DP51 though. $499.99 isn't a horrible price for an all metal handgun with the interesting triple action. I just hope it doesn't randomly drop the mags when I shoot it like my DP51 I used to own.

While I'm disappointed in that, it's good to hear that they'll probably be able to deliver DP51s for just $500. That's competitive with Beretta for metal frame handguns.

For the price point I'm more interested in the pistol desu, which in sure will drop a bit. It looks like a neat pistol. If the markings are good then it could be some variety. The rifles for 1800 is alright, a little to pricey for what they are. If they drop to like 1400 then it could be worth it for sure. These will stay on my radar though if simply for a unique rifle that shoots 556 and takes AR mags. It doesn't add any logistical strain on my shooting which I'm tired of and why I got rid of all my quirky meme rifles

US weapons manufacturing is fine, its beloved to euros
it tends to go to shit when the guns use parts from out of country, differences in communication, specifications, cost of manufacture, etc, blur the lines, throwing precision out the window
even cheap US shit is better than a large portion of foreign weapons, with the euros only having peer quality because of their own laws

It's an AR/AK hybrid. Take an AR-15 bolt carrier, chop the rear part off, take off the gas key, and cut out a hole in the top to insert an AK long stroke piston. An AK type recoil spring nests in the back of the piston assembly so you don't need a buffer tube and can have a folding stock.

Do you not own an ar? Put a mid length di gas system on it and it'll have basically zero recoil. How is that not smooth enough?
Anonymous No.64089911

Variety is the spice of life, or so they say. I think retarded meme guns are just that, retarded and memes. But the K2 is a little different as it shares the same caliber as an AR as well as the same mags and a few internal parts. This makes it one of if not the least retarded retarded meme gun, so you are paying to have something cute to mess around with. I agree though the price tag is a little severe, I'll think about picking one up if they drop under 1400
>>64089740
Gas system length is not what's making your AR shoot smooth, the gas port size + buffer and spring setup is what's 99% controlling felt recoil. In my experience a correctly gassed carbine gas system will shoot just as smooth as a midlength. Midlength absolutely over hyped(still good tho) especially by people who don't have as much experience controlling for certain variables

No folding stock and the LR-300 was DI. This is more similar to piston ARs like the HK416.
Honestly unless I'm missing something the gun seems kinda superfluous. It's not as compact or light as the K1 it's supposed to replace, it's functionally identical to the HK416 and other piston ARs Worst Korea already has, and the K2C seems like it would be perfectly fine alternative in its capacity as a carbine. Probably won't make big waves on the US market unless it can significantly undercut most of the piston ARs that are currently available.

Why though? I'm not apposed to buying American goods when it's sold at a good deal or the quality/durability outweighs the price BUT isn't South Korea like an ally of ours or something? I've been running a 2TB SK Hynix SSD in my PC for a while now for example and it's still kicking around just fine. In fact I might fill in an empty 2.5 SATA bay with yet another Hynix SSD since I've had pretty good luck with them so far. Yeah yeah I sometimes joke to about 'muh worst korea' but they make plenty of nice things (smart phones aren't one of them though. I have a post-ban Daewoo DR-200 which is a cucked K2 (no folding stock, no PG, no bayonet lug) and theyโ€™re fucking sweet as far as an AR derivative goes. My favorite thing is the adjustable gas system, mine on the lowest setting works amazing, the recoil is so light with standard M193 5.56. I also have a DP-51 which theyโ€™re alright, you can still get them for around $400 when you find them, theyโ€™re a solid handgun for someone who wants a more traditional metal framed 9mm. The only thing that sucks is that the magazines are pretty expensive and theyโ€™re 13rd mags when you do find the ones that werent limited to 10rds, which a lot of them are. Iโ€™m definitely getting a K2C though, they are definitely worth the $1800.

Canted flash-hider? Youโ€™re talking about the 3-prong on my A1? Itโ€™s not canted, itโ€™s just set up like that, think of the 3 prongs like a point of an up facing triangle and the top point is in line with the top of the barrel. Pic related is how it looks.

Oh, I couldnt tell you on that, the DR-200 doesnโ€™t have a muzzle brake, itโ€™s just a cup thereโ€™s no kind of holes or cut outs in it to actually function like a muzzle brake. I really been meaning to get it taken off because there are threads there itโ€™s just that the cup is soldered on there and you need to melt it with a torch and then even then the shits usually seized so I donโ€™t want to risk fucking it up myself and I donโ€™t want to pay a gunsmith $500 and wait 4 months to get it done.
Anonymous No.64103793 >>64103853
>>64103744
And Iโ€™m pretty positive the purpose of the slanted brake is like that of an AK rifle, the K2 uses a long stroke gas piston extremely similar to the AK so I guess they also took the canted muzzle brake idea as well. Which the whole point is if youโ€™re a right handed shooter the rifle tends to recoil up and to the right so itโ€™s canted to help negate the muzzle rise.

its probably roughly what they make em for in Korea, moving the production to the US (for fair reason) for these US market guns has different costs associated with them. Daewoo/SNT is a HUGE company in Korea and can do a lot of stuff for a lot less money there. Here in the US theyre at the mercy of American supply lines, companies, and labor costs

It's worse than that I'm afraid. H.W. Bush's 1989 import ban is still in effect and bans K2s by name, so SNT Motiv is probably going to be making receivers and simple components in the US and importing parts kits for the complex parts to finish the guns here. This is how all post 1994 AUGs in the US have been made since they returned to market in 2015.
