first gun I bought was a p320, then like a day later the world went apeshit about it. Sold it and got a Staccato P. Another day later and it too gets the not-drop-safe rep.
I decided to just not suck at holding guns since apparently me purchasing is what dissolves a gun's reputation. Still got my balls

Called 4 places today asking if anyone had a shadow 2 carry to hold. Got 4 boomers, all sub gen alpha IQ, could barely navigate the question, 2 had never heard of the gun, one was so old and brainfried they gave up on the call entirely, and one tried to argue with me that the carry and the compact are the same gun model. Every one sounded pissed that I called at all.

its a horrible carry gun. yeah you could carry it if you wanted to but you can say the sameshit about a fullsize 1911. you are not going to want to carry it after 2-3 months.
that looks bigger and bulkier than a p01.

They make enough from ammo sales and transfer fees that they don't have to worry about keeping up with new releases to stay open.
But here's the real question. Would you rather spend 1500 on the shadow 2 carry. Or save a few hundred and get a p01 with a decocker and get it optics cut? It's gonna have a better trigger even if you don't cajunize it. Just food for thought.

>I take it that's a revolver thing?
Yes, included in (almost) every smith revolver is a little keyhole that disables the action, and a set of stupid ass keys to operate it. It's not super useful, and there have been extremely rare reports that it can activate itself from recoil, rendering gun locked up and useless. However, lots of people carry guns with the lock despite that, and smith does fuck all about it, sometimes releasing versions without the lock for historical accuracy.

I went to a local upscale range.

As soon as I got out of my Honda they were laughing at me. I thought the laughter died down as soon as I pulled out my Nighthawk case out of my trunk but as soon as got to my stall and opened it they all started laughing hysterically, they were only catching their breath. One guy was laughing so hard he was rolling around on the floor and knocked over the brass goblin’s bucket.

The RSO came over and asked if I had my EBT card to pay for the lane, the lunch lady at the buffet gave me an extra chicken tender so I wouldn’t “go hungry” that night.

A guy with an SVI INFINITY moved to the lane next to me and didn’t even say anything he just smirked as I jumped whenever his open gun shooting 9mm Major’s muzzle blast would knock over my paper targets on the table. I was so nervous I could barely group since I was shaking so much. It got so bad I fumbled a draw and dropped my nighthawk on the floor, it went off, and everyone laughed. The RSO told me not to pick it up and that the garbage man would take care of it. I have never felt so humiliated

The range janny came over in the Zamboni and picked up my nighthawk for me, he wiped it off and then got the CLP spray bottle and ruined the finish not knowing Nighthawk’s black nitride is very cosmetically fragile. I know he was just trying to be nice on the worst day of my life but it literally could not get any worse.

I bought a Dan Wesson Specialist 10mm and it has early slide stop engagement. I think the recoil forces is bouncing the slide stop upwards, I did not see any markings on the incoming round to indicate that it was rubbing the round. That was the problem my Nighthawk 10mm had, where the top round on the magazine can hit the slide stop and partially engage it while it’s cycling.

I can't see my username on my one listing, which is still up. It randomly logged me out and my password no longer works. I tried "forgot password" and it's saying there's no associated email. My ad is still up with just no username and password which doesn't make sense, it's like my username is throwing an error for the site

I accidentally posted my ad on a VPN, but that's not a bannable offense I don't think. I see plenty of ads with IP's from all over the country. And I said CWP preferred in my ad.

I don't think I got hacked as I use random, complex password generators for everything and don't click on links. Maybe the site is having a problem/hack of its own or they banned me for the VPN - i mean they do send the forgotten passwords in plaintext over email

.38 +P, no. .357mag loses substantial potential with every inch of barrel up to like 6in. Even a 16in barrel sees big gains for really hot .357mag. That being said, a .357mag from a 2in barrel is still faster than a .38 from a 4in. People think .38 +P is .357 mag level and it's not even close. 1000fps is not 1,400fps.

Early guns were probably more hand fit than later ones. Regarding the polymer I don't think anyone knows, it's plausible Glock has messed with it since, gen 1s and 2s (particularly gen 2 .40s) were notorious for cracking frames under high round counts with hot ammo

I doubt you'll ever have any real problems though, we're talking more ammo than most will put through all their pistols in a lifetime.

I think if you're getting a 357, you should prioritize shooting over concealment. A full power revolver will never be a truly ideal carry piece, but they can be very pleasant to shoot. Go 5" barrel, or even 6. Muzzle flip is extremely mild.

If you really really want to conceal it, go smaller. The loss in velocity won't matter enough to make carrying it less comfortable and convenient.

Thoughts on the 92a1? Going to pick one up as my first Beretta. Not worried about holster compatibility since JM Custom Kydex has me covered.

I'm wondering how the grip will fit my hand. For reference the SP01 with palm swells fits my hand like a glove. So does the gen 3 glock 34 which I believe is the same size as gen 5 with the medium backstrap.

Is the Trijicon dovetail mount any good?

If you're looking at an M9A1, they're a great form factor for someone with that hand type, but you should go to PSA and look at the deals they're doing with the LTT 92s. They are basically M9A1 frames with M9A3 slides, with some parts being stainless or coated.
Anonymous No.64088620 [Report]
>>64088571
Dovetail mounts aren’t good but it’s not like it’s taller than the OEM beretta plate system. The LTT plate system is decently low.

The 92A1 I try not to recommend to people since the slide and recoil assembly are proprietary to the 92A1/90-Two. It’s a developmental dead end of the 92 family. The 92X has multiple aftermarket wraparound grips that mimic the “old” style but better since they get more texture onto the back straps. Langdon’s thin VZ 92 grips have swells but the LOK ones have big swells

What's the point of the 92 Brigadier?
Anonymous No.64089027 [Report]
>>64089010
Thicker heavier slide since at the time heavier = better, people today prefer to minimalize reciprocating mass. It was designed to be more heavy duty by thickening the slide (because beretta and Walther p38 slides would snap in half by the locking block, beretta fixed it mostly) and “reduced” recoil by being 300g heavier than the normal 92. It has a different recoil impulse compared to the 92, not major, I wouldn’t say it’s less or more. It also has a dovetail front sight which the 92FS and M9 lacked. In common usage the brigadier was a more sporty/competition shooting gun than the 92FS.

The border patrol would then buy hundreds of thousands of these and shoot the spiciest .40 S&W ammo possible and crack the aluminum frames within 15k rounds or so. While Ben Stoeger claims to have 100k+ rounds through several brigadiers in 9mm (several guns, 100k each).

This was exactly my thought, like wtf he should mind his own Business. I’m pretty handy with guns, shoot tight groups, shoot trap etc, and I bought a striker fired steel race gun (Walther q5) it was my first time shooting it.

The club itself is kinda weird because it’s a quasi social club and all the employees are literal masons at a local lodge.

The guy was maybe being friendly? Idk. Alot of the members are normal but if you don’t have a badge some of them are super rude. There’s no RO and it’s all self styled so if you want training or anything you need to go to a different range.

My city has a very small number of permits in circ (less than 5000 total held by non cops) so everyone knows each other. It’s kinda small and you have to be polite because if you get a permit you basicly are a glownigger yourself.

What’s akward is the range culture desu. Everybody knows everybody and there’s no privacy. There’s some other ranges but they are farther away and same vibe.

Sometimes I wish there was just a large corperate gun store/range that did classes etc.

It is what it is.

Honestly pretty said how awful Democrat policies have turned the former crown jewels that are current New York, LA, etc into absolute shit holes while cities like Shanghai and Chongqing are more advanced, organized, cleaner, and with less homeless people (they get forced into labor camps)
There is a fine middle ground between totalitarian police state shithole that is China and whatever the fuck Dems are doing that we should strive to achieve in the US, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. If I HAD to live in a dystopian hive city with no gun ownership, I would sooner sing the praises of Mao and live in Shanghai than I would New York City.
Thankfully I'm American and live in a small rural town

Noguns here. My understanding is that rotating barrel pistols are rare because the shorter barrel means the rotation does not reduce recoil in a meaningful way. True? If so, why does anyone bother developing them?
Anonymous No.64092049 [Report]
>>64092034
I don’t think they reduce recoil, but reduces muzzle rise instead. A rotating barrel introducing at one issue I can think of. You will have trouble keeping any kind of muzzle accessory attached and secured.
Anonymous No.64092053 [Report]
>>64092034
Rotating barrels are rare since few people ever took the time to develop them. It’s extremely hard to change course of institutions, it took a long time for automatics to become standard with police, a long time for polymer striker fired guns to dethrone DA/SA hammers, etc. I remember one cop still carrying a Colt SAA .45 Long Colt into the 60s (he killed dozens of men with it) because it was what he knew.

Sticking with your existing tilting barrel design that’s widely used by the industry is cheaper than designing a novel rotating barrel design.

Duty is better for blind barrier penetration. If you’re not worried about shooting through a windshield or a car door, critical duty might be best. Critical duty has the flex tip tech (a “high tech” rubber stub in the hollow point cavity). It’s suppose to be better for maintaining the hollow point structure for flesh penetration. So, instead of the bullet expanding in the layer of a jacket and dumping its energy early, it should remain intact until it hit muscle.

The battery in my Horoxhun 407K died. The "Holosun" branded battery lasted 857 days or 20,568 hours from first install. Well short of its advertised """up to""" 50,000 hours, and the gun was barely used (~600 rounds in that time) meaning it spent almost all of that time asleep on a shelf, but still. 2.3 years is implessive from those little 1632 batts. nta but I consider inferior to speed loaders. They lightweight, smaller and easier to use than speed loaders, but they can deform in such a way that they cause a malfunction and prevent you from firing the gun. Speed loaders are ridged and are easier to load/unload new and spent rounds. The problem with them is that they’re bulky, making them harder to conceal and carry. They can also introduce a bad habit at the range, where instead just dropping the loader on the ground, you might take that extra second to put the loader in your pocket. There are speed strips/clips which can lay flat in your pocket. They’re a good in between option. Not faster than speed loaders, but easier to carry than both options and won’t cause a malfunction.

If you're printing targets out on paper a basic 4 inch diameter circle with a bullseye will do you fine. If you want to be optimal you can stick a bunch of 2 inch wide circles on a basic sheet of printer paper easily.

Not here I’ve seen. But you can use paper plates or masking tape on blank paper or cardboard

2 inches should still be usable up to 7 yards away.

Most of what you need to learn as a beginner handgun shooter is at 7 yards

Shooting pizza box size groups at 25 yards as a noob is just going to waste ammo and never show him what to improve

Its easy to hit paper and fist sized groups on command at that distance but holes on holes is only something I can do with one of my target pistols or red dot pistols.

You should probably start at 3 yrds if youre a complete beginner.
Anonymous No.64095895 [Report]
If you're new, you should probably start at an arm's length from the target.

you might get frustrated at 7 yrds, and get turned off to the hobby. When you nail the fundamentals, you'll get good groups at 3yrd, then you can start working on improving those skills at 7yrds.

I'm all set to buy an FNX45 tactical with a Holsun but the lgs has a discounted HK45 tactical for $350 less. I don't see one, but is there any reason to consider the HK instead? Supressed range/HD use.
Anonymous No.64095943 [Report] >>64095986
>>64095914
Honestly not really. The HK45 has reduced capacity for no reason other than “capacity doesn’t matter on military pistols” and they thought less rounds would make it more ergonomic
