I'll throw cold-war Sweden in the ring. Saab's canards, armor like the Ikv 91 + CV90, and even humble trucks like Volvo's C-series Terrängbil 13 have a ruggedly handsome form, all wrapped in the beautiful FOA/M90 universal camouflage.

Aircraft don't have to be symmetric (often done to counter torque forces) and warmachines doubly so. The brutal functionality is part of the charm, and the Mi-24 pairs those constraints with an unusually organic form.

I think after the vietnam war due to the massive access the media had during the war showing how things were going down each night on the news in peoples living room. So trivialising a war machine or attempting to make it more menacing looking with teeth and eyes with nose art wasn't something the general public could stomach anymore considering they were dumping agent orange or napalm on people.

Theirs a variety of politically correct reasons like weight reduction, camo/stealth, standardisation, cost etc...

Your eyes deceive you: this is only modern armored combat vehicle Belgium has ever locally produced in it's entirety (for export; ironic). Both it and the Ratel derive from the same engineering design study, but unlike it's brother the SIBMAS is fully amphibious comes standard with a Cockerill 90.
Not sure I'd label it the best, but if one appreciates this style it's perhaps more deserving of the title than South Africa due to the latter's heavy preference for function at the expense of form (Buffel and co.)

Too bad these things are rare as hell and expensive as fuck.
There are probably fewer than 150 of them left in the world.
They only made like 700 of them, and most of them were used and abused until they were worn out and scrapped.
They're also REALLY difficult to drive compared to modern cars because they've got an extremely old fashioned synchronized "crash-box" transmission.

Unironically China. they have the most consistently cohesive aesthetics where infantry and vehicle camo differ only in scale, across all arms of the PLA. The PLAN white ships are just kino, PLAAF liveries are very simple but elegant, the PLANMC is extremely distinct with the blue camo (unfortunately not used anymore), and even the smaller services like rocketry forces have a very cohesive aesthetic and identity. All their militaria look like units in an RTS and it is just simply kino

New uniform is interesting. It's scaled way too small and could use the same ERDL>M81 treatment: larger scale and more saturated, simpler colors. the fractal design is very cool, but it seems limited by having the details way to small to be effective from combat distance

Anonymous No.64121467 [Report]

I mean it obviously looks stupid, but I find it endearing and aesthetic like vaporwave. the PLANMC consider themselves to be naval infantry rather than marines which means they only do landings and don't go further in land. the theory behind the camo is to protect during the two most dangerous phases of landings, while still in the water, and for IFF during naval direct fire. It's not different than modern IFF armbands but scaled up to a whole uniform. they were much more concerned about properly directing naval fires than hiding troops on a beach where the enemy already knows you are landing.

but yeah, it's goofy and they don't use it anymore
