2011 building blog post
Maybe I should have watched a video of how to build a 2011 first. Half way into fitting the ejector I realized I should have pinned it to the frame first, now if I fuck up cutting the slot of the ejector leg Iโve wasted all the time I spent fitting it.
Also I bought the wrong extractor, this Wilson combat one is like a commander extractor and I needed a GI extractor to fit this Springfield TRP slide. So I have a gap.

I used to not like it very much, better for recoil control but didn't present as naturally. Then the standard 18ish degrees suddenly started disagreeing with me on presentation, went back to Glock and focused on pointing with the thumb/firearms instead of index finger for presentation. Works better for me now than the standard. So its really a personal preference thing, but most people should be fine with either with a bit of practice.

The problem with Glocks isn't the grip angle, it's that the trigger and the design of the trigger shoe itself aren't as forgiving as other designs.

It's basically a polymer p229r. Conceals decently and its a sig (this used to have more credibility). Its a cheaper baby brother of the p229. DA/SA pulls are decently, but I don't remember since its been a while since I've handled it. I think $660 is horseshit. I got mine for $400, came with the original box, a cheap OTB and 4 mags (2 cuck mags and 2 standard capacity). Also, it was near pristine for being used. The suckers at cabelas listed it too low.

This, 100% this. Perfect summary.
Glock angle is great for recoil control, but does NOT point naturally. 1911 points naturally but will get worse rapid fire groups from a novice.
If you're arming a large number of poorly trained morons with a disposable handgun for mag dumping, Glock is perfect.

They got him (if thatโs who I think) because he was buying a lot of the same make a model, which buying a several of the same exact model flags you as a straw purchaser at once. He would sell to obvious criminals/felons and his guns regularly turned up in criminal investigations.
Thereโs actually a guy near me they let buy over 100 guns despite them knowing his guns were being used in shootings. He wasnโt even reporting them stolen, a gun he was the last one to do a NCIS check regularly was found in shooting investigations and the local police did nothing. It took a long time for the ATF to act.
>>64122446
No, you canโt just regularly buy guns and then resell them. If youโre buying a significant amount of guns and reselling them youโre obviously in the business of selling guns. You can make profit on private transfers, you canโt be out to make profit in buying guns.

Interesting. Shouldn't be an issue cause I'm ultra autistic about rust prevention. I don't even have acidic sweat or anything and still, every time I touch my guns/take them out of the safe they always get a proper wipe down when put away. My safe also has a dehumidifier system in it.

I really like my P2000. The main issue (compared to the G19) is that it's 13+1 unless you swap out magazine internals. I've never had a malfunction running them with the +2 spring/follower kit, though it is noticeably more difficult to fully seat the mag on a closed slide.

Also you can capacity MAXX by using I forget who competition followers that donโt have hold open notch for the follower to fit more rounds which can be roughly a +2 in a 9mm. So your +2 extension can be a +4, so the spare mag you carry can hold even more. Last round hold open doesnโt matter if itโs the last mag you have

Might swap out the trigger, maybe the safety for a Wilson tactical blued safety where the bullet proof line one has a polished blue look to it, and the grip safety is polymer tacked onto a traditional one. The mainspring housing has rubber material attached to it, same material as the grips. Itโs very comfy in the hand and spins very well on my finger. I tried to do it when the Gunstore employees werenโt looking but they know me

NTA but it seems they actually care about what the market wants and have made all the changes people wanted. The Colt Limited model is optioned very well. They sell optic cut versions now, crappy cut but still itโs a factory option. The trigger guard undercut is good. The Delta Elite is still unramped which kind of is an issue.
The last anon who shilled colts, he had a two, a combat commander 9mm and a .45 government model. He had to send the 9mm back a few times, but it runs now.

I would say I have reservations about them. I've owned three (3) new production Colts. Only the Gold Cup remains, I sold the other two. One was the limited edition one and the other was a combat commander (9mm). The LE had feeding issues but seemed to work consistently with the provided Colt mag, other mags were hit or miss. The combat commander would throw brass in my face but was otherwise fairly reliable. I sent it back to Colt (probably an extractor issue I could in theory replace/fix myself, but don't want to spend the money and effort to fix a brand new item). Got it back from Colt and still had the same problem (the service notes said they changed the recoil spring). Didn't want to hassle with sending it back again, so I sold it. That also had some feeding problems. The Gold Cup has been completely reliable. The only issue I've had is the safety being extremely stiff out of the box (an issue when putting it back on safe). It's worn in and works fine now. Overall I would say you're rolling the dice, mostly with regard to reliability. What gets me is that the guns "seem" to be very high quality when you get them in hand, take them apart, look at them etc. And they are by far the best looking 1911s available. They are guns I really wish I could recommend, but I just can't. Others say they are fine, maybe I just got unlucky with regard to reliability

I thought part of the H&K feeling of superiority came from knowing that not only is your weapon the finest that can be had, but that your skills are also unmatched, so a difference in capacity is meaningless. A single well-placed shot fired from a perfectly zeroed H&K is more effective than the 30-odd bullets sprayed blindly from the glawk foty wit da stendo an da beam.

Not meaning to be a dick or anything when saying that, but revolvers especially can be total unknowns. Most semi auto pistols you can fix whatever is wrong with them with easy to swap parts, revolvers take a little more to get things meshed together well, and lots of people are tards with their revolvers.
Scratched up the finish on my gun a little bit while getting rust off. What's a good product for repairing a gun's finish, or polishing a gun? Trying to prevent future rust from forming

Itโs over. There isnโt that much can be done since most finish touch up offers little rust protection. Paint offers a surprisingly amount, unless rust can get under the paint. Cold blue is a controlled rusting process and offers some protection but not as much as a real finish.
My plan for this carbon steel frame was to cold blue it then spray paint it OD green with Brownells Alumahyde

For the anons that care, you can deal with surface rust on a traditionally blued gun by spraying with CLP or Balistoil or whatever you love, nylon brushing aggressively (rinse brush often, rust flakes are abrasive), rubbing a copper penny on the stubborn spots (lay it flat, let the raised rim "snag" the rust)
Then fully decreasing the gun with any spray can of either from autozone and boiling the part in DISTILLED water (use tap water and your part is gonna be fucked)
This will leave you with no red oxide on the gun, you can then oil and care for the gun as normal without rust blooms coming back.

They're autistic but none of them is tatally wrong. Once you got rust the oxide layer will grow and is much more prone to rusting than the blank steel. Keeping it oiled with a medium tier oil is enouth to stop expansion. Removing the rust is best to stop that but not just mechanicaly with CLP and steel wool, you need to finish the job with a chemical rust removal/conversion since mechanical removal wont by to 100%. I tested Gold Guard on a rusted barrel to see if its penetration into rust spots and makes them hydophobe enouth to survive outdoor storage and rain, worked very well. So you can use Gold Guard to seal shut the rust (degrease with breakcleaner first to free the pores from oil)and if possible to put a layer on the whole steel, let it dry overnight to form the wax and than gentle put the grip over it so its wax sealed to prevent Ruger rust.

Kimber and Springfield are generally good to go, but definitely have QC misses. They currently both have very good customer service and if you get something that got past QC, they'll take care of it quickly without trouble, so they're safe choices.
Ruger is somewhat less likely to send out a gun that shouldn't have made it past QC, but has limited options.
You should feel OK with any of those choices, though if I was getting a Kimber I'd get the next gen model like the other anon mentioned.

In the 1k-2k range sometimes high end 1911s (5k MSRP) drop down that far and will blow any new gun in that range out of the water plus if unmodified you can call the original manufacturer to fix any issue.

I have a new 92FS and the rear sight is slightly off-center, probably because it was sighted in at the factory, right? What do they do on the normal M9 with the fixed sights, just let it go?

They most definitely donโt zero production Berettas at the factory. They just try to center the sights in the dovetail and ship it, and in this case, they didnโt center it perfectly. Youโre probably going to have to zero it yourself.
No big deal, thatโs why the dovetail is there.

Tennesseean. You can see a little bit of the flat part of the dovetail on the left side. Will have to shoot it to check but it seems like it's supposed to be centered. Not used to having to adjust the sights on a basic ass handgun.

desu it's very odd nobody has tried to make an "M1911A1" bare bones, no nonsense 2011. I guess there's just almost no overlap between guys who want 2011s and guys who like vintage 1911 Govts though/
On top of that, the super racey thumb safeties, palm safeties, slide stop levers, hammers, etc are all standard features that 99% of people are fine with, they'd have to spend more money to get the vintage look and they'd be arguably worse performing.

It's not that I'm opposed to it, but more that I wouldn't even know where to start since I'm already basically striking out on finding classic looking double stack 1911s/2011s, I haven't even started looking at frames or grip modules. Anyway, prodigies all have square trigger guards and a new slide isn't going to fix that.

Walther PPK and Beretta 21A are definitely smaller, not 9mm but certainly carry oriented. Springfield XD-E is about the same maybe a bit thinner and smaller. Sphinx SDP Subcompact too and that's a double stack. There are probly others, if width isn't that big a concern there's a whole niche of subcompact DA/SAs like the P99C, RAMI and P30SK.
Anyway 3913s are rad, check Numrich

eBay sometimes has little oddball stuff too from parted out guns. I don't see 3913 parts at the other usual suspects unforch
I thought you could just take out a spring under the ejector or something to make S&W 3rd gen decocker only, but a 5 second search shows people talking about milling slides so I guess I don't remember good
