Which 1913 stock is most similar to the old school AK-74 triangle folder? A3 Industries seems like the best choice. I want something I could potentially still use with things like buttpads and cheek risers that are made for the 5.5mm triangle stocks.

Were they 7.62 or 5.56 bolts? I feel like that's an important distinction to be made since a lot of the thin-stem 5.56 bolts seem to be more fragile regardless of manufacturer.

cant believe im going to build an AK74 in the big 2025.
anyone have builder recommendations or should i just do it myself?
It doesn't look that difficult after I've done hours of research. problem is that the tooling would cost nearly the same as the builders commission fee
Anonymous No.64125175 >>64125185 >>64125199
>>64125134
I assume you already have the parts on hand?
The build isn't hard, it's the same as an AKM for the most part, but then you have a pile of tools you won't use that much more unless you really get into the slowly-dying market that is "AK parts kit building."
If the cost of a builder doing it for you isn't too much more than a full suite of tools, rivets and receiver I'd strongly consider shopping for a builder over doing it yourself.
A general location in the country is also helpful for builder suggestions, don't doxx yourself of course but regional will help. Example being if you live in ID you don't want to go for a good suggested builder in TX when you have good builders that were simply overlooked in your backyard.

Armory42 did mine and he did an awesome job.
Most builders are around $350 to start. I'd expect to pay around $450. That's still far less than the specialty tools and jigs which will run you $500-$1200 depending how Gucci you want to go.
For reference I paid $700 for my builder because it had a folding stock (extra work, annoying work too) and clean up work from the previous builder.

It was an issue for older rimfire guns, most modern designs have remedied the issue.
In other guns, it can still be a problem if the firing pin is made of subpar material compared to the bolt that it is hitting when you dry-fire (because it still hits something when dry-fired, note the shape of the front of the AK firing pin for example).

The same reason Turkish manufacturers are confirmed to sell their QC rejects to the American market: "they are stupid and will buy anything gun related if it's priced well enough."
Is it confirmed with WBP? No, but it is with Turks, so it's just conjecture that the logic is carried over for the rumor.
M26 probably did start it (or at least is one of the bigger voices signal boosting it currently, he carries a lot more weight than he should frankly)
That's about as far as it goes, bits of anecdotes and conjecture based on how the foreign import market looks at the US.

Are you retarded? There is a zero percent chance of that happening. Even if the battlefield situation would allow for Ukraine to be in a position to surrender weapons (it's not). You don't see STG-44 parts kits from Syria or AK parts kits from Afghanistan on the market do you?

The truth is the guns, will quickly end up in one conflict zone or another, as they always do. My money is on Azerbaijan-Armenia, remember governments and factories would much rather sell to international arms-dealers and "moderate" rebels than US civilians. >dropping the slide on an empty chamber
I've always thought that was fuddlore, but I read through several 1911 owner's manuals just now, and the Ruger and Colt manuals I found specifically tell you to drop the slide on an empty chamber as a part of the unloading procedure. S&W doesn't say anything either way, unless I'm missing it. In the Dan Wesson unloading procedure it says
>Release the slide stop and slowly close the slide...
which seems to imply that you shouldn't just drop the slide on empty, but it doesn't specifically tell you not to do that.
And the Nighthawk Custom manual states
>Don’t let the slide fall on an empty chamber. This will cause the hammer to start following the slide down. The 1911 is made to load one round each time the slide goes forward. Dropping it on an empty chamber will eventually knock the sear out of alignment.
interesting
The Nighthawk manual also says dry fire is fine and encouraged and that snap caps are unnecessary

Question. I have a 7.62x39 Vepr rifle. It has a slant cut receiver with an adapter to make a standard 90 degrees. I'm pretty sure the receiver is an RPK receiver and the importer (marked as Anaheim, CA) put an AK stock in it, as there is a great deal of play between the stock tang and adapter. I used an AR stock adapter, but I find it raises the checkweld too high to comfortably use the iron sights. Therefore, I would like to put an actual set of RPK furniture on it. Specifically, I would like to put a set of plum RPK furniture on it, pic rel. The problem is, I'm not sure how it actually mounts to the gun. Does it use the two standard wood screws of an AK stock? The stock in your pic is for the RPK-203, a side folder that's why there's a cut out on the side of the stock. If your VEPR is converted as you say to a standard 90 degree receiver, you should be able to buy a standard wood or polymer clubfoot and put it on your gun.

That doesn't mean very much though, there's more to manufacturing parts to-spec than a method of individual part creation.
The specific metal alloy used could still be substandard. The hardening process could be substandard. Both would be dangerous to the end user, even if the part is "forged."
Considering Pioneer's history of trying to pretend to be FB Radom to ride their laurels, I wouldn't put "weasel-wording around actually having quality components while still selling the same shit that will harm the user" beyond them.

Did you even try to use google to answer your own question? Try these phrases:
>Pioneer Arms AK broken trunnion
>Pioneer Arms AK cracked trunnion
>Pioneer Arms AK broken bolt
>Pioneer Arms AK cracked bolt
We have ~20 years of Pioneer AKs failing in dangerous ways, both ones that were branded IO and Pioneer.
NPAPs had bad heat treat on receivers in a few batches, but their trunnions were still done properly and the receiver issue was amended in future production (and if you were willing and had a bad one, it could be fixed yourself with a new receiver and rivet set or by a gunsmith willing).
IO and Pioneer both had bad trunnions and bad assembly, and we don't know if the new "forged" ones are any better. This could not be fixed on your own without swapping all the parts in the first place.
We don't know yet on the new "forged" parts.
Do YOU want to be the guinea pig who loses a finger if it fails to find out? That's why we say to avoid them. Let someone else risk theirs.

They are fine for cheap guns. I'd be more comfortable with the 7.62 one anyway given the chamber pressure is lower than 5.56. But yes they used forged trunnions and bolts.
That being said, there's zero reason to get a Hellpup when Romanian Dracos exist.

We also haven't had as many catastrophic failures with WASRs as with Pioneer guns during that period, and for barely more money you can get a WASR, so why would I buy Pioneer? "Because WASRs don't come in 5.56?" That's the ONLY reason I can think of.

If they were genuinely forged to the same spec as other AKs (that don't harm their users), they'd be at a price competitive with them.
For the price of the old known-to-be-bad ones to be the same as the new unknown-if-its-good ones, that raises an eyebrow. Sure it could just be "we want to secure market share via underselling to improve our brands' reputation," but they lied in their marketing in the past and have a history of it, so why wouldn't they lie in their marketing now? There's too many red flags for me to say it's worth it even as a toy. Atlantic has Dracos for $700, the Pioneer pistols are $540 there. $160 dollars is a lot less than any hospital bill you'd get if the gun fucks up, so for peace of mind I'd go for the one that has a massive history of being a reputable product. If you're a poorfag, wait 2 weeks and you can afford the Draco. Self control with money is a good skill to learn if you're poor or "nouveau riche."

One listing for a product exists at a price higher than you remember, and now because you found a listing for the same piece at a price lower than you claim was the price since 2013, my own remembered price from ONE seller in the past is a decade out of date, even though it's higher than the listing you found at Midway that exists now?
What even is your argument? Prices vary between sellers? Yea, they do.
Inflation and demand also affect prices though; guns, parts and ammo have been an area prices have gone up in the past 5 years, and a Krebs safety is in fact part of that market. Demand and Krebs being a fart-huffer can't be the ONLY things causing that price, because Saigas have been banned from import for over a decade and the AK market is hardly doing well.
Anonymous No.64135137 >>64135190

What are you even babbling about? The safety has been priced at $60 for over a decade on the Krebs website. My point is two fold. One, Krebs has been over priced and stable in their over price since the rise and fall of the Saiga boom. Two, the price has not budged since 2019. Again, USD doomer bloomer pee pee poomer changes have no bearing on this. Krebs is and has been over priced for years. It got worse with the deluge of Saigas and their disappearance from the market has not altered this
Anonymous No.64135190
>>64135137
One, that first post I replied to isn't the Krebs website (it's Khyber Customs), and I never said anything about the Krebs website for the price either, so this is a moot point via total irrelevance to either starting argument.
The price has clearly budged since 2019 as well, since you showed it being $51.99 at Midway, meaning your point 2 is also moot via being disproven by your own argument.
Three, I never said Krebs wasn't overpriced. Read my first post in this discussion again, particularly the last sentence:
>Krebs was always overpriced for what it is in terms of their in-house parts.
Are you just fixated on the inflation thing? It affects the market at-large similar to the Saiga ban, before you claim goalpost moving; if less people buy AKs because of their dollar being worth less, it means less people buy Krebs safeties, meaning he either raises prices on a captured market just slightly or lowers prices to appeal to more people. He went with the former, clearly.

Yeah so the two singles I'm shooting at the start of the drill at 35yds I'm getting by just quickly tapping the gun, cyclic is slow enough that if you come off the trigger fast enough you get singles, no issues or malfs.
So the Diablo AK FRT just looks like a rebranded KONO/MARS trigger. It is fundamentally a different design that the Deeznutztactical design (not sure whomsts' design it was originally but yeah). I've fired my friend's KONO/MARS setup and the trigger slap was atrociously painful, AND the wire cylindrical steel trip bar just ended up bending.

Personally I would say you are fine. It it what I was planning on getting if they ever introduce either a 4.5mm side fold trunnion or have a model without the optics rail mount. Since they lack those and AoA had a sale on the Beryl back in June I ended up getting one of those instead. The blank, i.e. billet is a forged piece of stock, not a real forging which starts off as a cast part roughly the shape of a trunnion, which is then forged and finish milled. Because WBPollaks are bigger sycophants than PSAtards. I just want these WBP faggots to acknowledge that their commercial grade rifles are on par with PSA and that their favorite brand is cutting corners just like PSA on a manufacturing process that is not obvious to the naked eye. I just want some kind of minimal buy-in that he's not going to immediately change the subject when he sees the WBP rep gleefully hand the interviewer the trunnion billet. He couldn't do that so I can only assume he doesn't actually care whether it's a billet or a real forging.

Here's the video, time stamp is the billet, later on you can see what I mean by a real forging when they show the bolt carrier.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5KKZLBU2j8&t=142s

Also, I want to clarify something I said earlier that is a bit inaccurate, the initial forging doesn't relive stress, that's done via heat treatment. The forging process aligns the grain structure of the steel, the entire point of forging a trunnion or bolt carrier is to align the grain structure in a general shape of the part. When you pre forge a billet, the grain structure has no relation to the part that is later machined out of it and you miss out on the benefits of doing a real forging. Sure, it's better that a complete mess than a raw casting, but that's a relatively low bar.

What do you not believe? My explanation of forging lacks the detail a mechanical engineer would give you but at a high level it's correct. You can turn on subtitles and see the WBP rep proudly say that the billet is for the trunnion and then watch them walk over to the CNC and show off several stages of the machining process. You see it in various stages of completeness because it requires several setups to be machined completely.

Frankly, probably not, or at least like you say it's not going to be an issue for the average shooter under nominal conditions. I've built kits with WBP trunnions and they're working fine. I suspect it might be why their lugs are shearing off bolts but I don't have definitive proof that they don't use die forging for the bolts. It could also just be a batch of bad heat treatment. On the same note, as bizarre as it is that PSA doesn't dimple their rivets, it doesn't actually matter for the majority of shooters.

The fact of the matter is, all of these commercial grade rifles are cutting corners in ways that they deemed non-critical. There's just a special brand of delusional superiority that rubs me the wrong way about WBP. I think WBP is outright lying by the way they market their trunnions but there isn't a swath of data showing that the trunnions are bad. They may be sufficient but they're a downgrade from mil-spec.

It’s not a hypothetical problem, it’s a fact that milled parts do not have the same fatigue strength as a forged part. It’s quite literally why forging exists in manufacturing. You WBP niggers did the exact same cope when they used cast trunnions btw. It doesn’t matter that you’re not the other person I replied to, you’re all interchangeable drones.

It’s insane, they’re running cover for a company that is outright lying in their product listing.

Fucking OOF. Look at that casting. What happened, did they heat it white hot or some shit? I’m not a metallurgist so I have no clue

imagine unironically owning a WBP
>you paid $1,200 for a ticking time bomb with a billet cope trunnion and a cast bolt
>your “heritage rifle” has less heritage than your dad who left when he saw you wearing your WBP polo
>every time you shoot, your fragile bolt cries harder than you after getting ghosted
>your trunnion has more cracks than your mom’s iphone screen
>WBP is literally the Hi-Point of imports
