Attention Chink shills-
Please inform your bosses that Westerners will be much more likely to watch your propaganda if it's certified warkino, make more shit like The 800 and less chest thumping IMPLESSIVE threads here ok thank u sirs.

Also, apparently it's free on Youtube, so here, have a movie lads.

Don't worry, technically the chinks aren't commies yet in the movie. (Which is perhaps the most surprising part, that chinks would make a movie about nationalist troops being heroic. I suppose in chink culture it's probably something like "CHINA NUMBA WAN>all, so it's ok for filthy nationalist dogs to be cool as long as they're not fighting the esteemed, ethical, good, and just revolution chinks.)

One China policy, that and the chinks are reading more Schmidt and Heidegger than they are Marx and Mao.

I think pretty much everyone agrees that the japs were mega-niggers in WWII, even the japs. So it's easy to make a movie about "fuk u japs get out ree" regardless of if it's an American, Chinese, Korean, British, Russian, etc perspective.

The glorification of the KMT was actually very controversial and held up the movie's distribution for two years even when they had scenes making the Nationalist command look bad

I did not care for this movie at all, I found most of the characters to be cliched, especially the two cowardly old guys who suddenly find their courage in the end

The released film also censored all visuals of the Nationalist flag now used by Taiwan.

Fucking cringe, 20 years ago they'd release it like it should.

I understand this. However, I know that the CCP will co-opt anything that portrays the Chinese people in a positive light which is the only reason this film was even allowed to be filmed.
>I did not care for this movie at all, I found most of the characters to be cliched
This is 90% of movies.

I don't mind some cliches in a drama-action movie, as long as they're well executed.

There was an unacceptable level of cliches even by Hollywood standards, it felt more like watching one of those countless Russian WW2 propgandaslop films being shat out in the last 10 years: flashy, ridiculous over the top action scenes (many of which in fairness actually happened), pointless melodramatic sequences with musical accompaniement, paper thin characters you can't bring yourself to care about. They're all in there: the patriotic Chink CO, his noble IJA antagonist counterpart on the other side, the two green protagonist conscripts from the countryside getting their first taste of battle, etc. Its especially damning because this isn't the first or even second film about Sihang warehouse, they could have had more imagination in this retelling.

Cinematography is good and some of the scenes are memorable (such as the human grenade bit against the Japanese testudo and the air attack against the flag raisers on the roof), but I was bored out of my mind by the time the final evacuation scene rolled around, it was a worse slog than the actual battle. City of Life and Death remains the unmatched Second Sino-Japanese War kino

I'll add to your post with 2007's Assembly, even though that's more about the Chinese Civil War.

They need to make a Battlefield Korea. I would still play it if it was from the chink perspective.

The great thing about Youtube being blocked in West Taiwan is that their film studios don't give a fuck about enforcing copyright there (unlike Japanese companies like Toei and Kadokawa which will nuke your account in under one hour of posting), so you can watch most of what Chinese cinema has been pumping out in the last decade. A lot of their major blockbusters and series have also been sold to Netflix if you want more professional subs or dubbing

A well made Korean War game would probably sell extremely well in China as long as the devs were very careful to not hurt the poor widdle chink's very fragile ego.

Some of the CG was downright silly but that's not a thing exclusive to chinks in war movies. It felt much more heavy handed in it's CHINA NUMBA WAN theming than I'd prefer, but it's not so extreme as to make the movie unwatchable or anything. I'd imagine that chinkoids feel the same way watching US media like Saving Private Ryan etc so I don't think it's that valid of a complaint for this specific movie.
All in all I'd r8 it entertaining war movie/10

This isn't true at all, in fact most Kuomintang were collaborators. It was Mao who led the united front against the Japanese.

chink movies like chinese ghost story or 70s/80s kung fu (The 36th Chamber of Shaolin - a masterpiece) are great.
but the entire chest thumping war and sci flicks of the last two decades are just cringe hollywood cargo cult bullshit.
