The Merkva is one of the ugliest fucking tanks I have ever seen. It's been used for nothing besides shooting Palestinian civilians, and running over half starved KHAMAS insurgents (who STILL managed to kill a couple BF3 style).
Abrams, on the other hand has moved from it's stay in desert purgatory, to actually fighting a somewhat (if vodka and HIV ridden) competent foe back in Europe. This time, the IEDs can fly, and there's thousands more of them!

I think we'll see a proper breakthrough in active protection both kinetic and energy based and we'll be back to square 1, ie tanks mostly concerned with being hit with stuff thats faster and meaner than a drone

Coincidentally, if every tank or IFV carries its own integrated low level AD they will become even more important as infantry support. Straying far from the tank would mean instant death.

It looks short because the modular armor on the turret extends past the first few feet of the barrel. Barrel length is 17.3 ft, same as the version on the Leo 2, K1A1, Type 90, and M1A1 and every other tank with the LH/44 gun.
