You’re missing how this works. Renk already said they’ll shift gearbox production to America if Berlin keeps blocking exports. Once that happens, those gearboxes are American origin products, which means only American export law applies. Germany doesn’t get a veto over something made in America. And this isn’t a “someday” fantasy, Israel already signed a deal in March with Ashot Ashkelon to locally produce transmissions, suspensions, and drive systems. Moving production lines for parts that are already designed takes months, not years, so between that and Renk’s relocation plan, the idea that the whole Merkava fleet is going to be deadlined over the embargo is just wrong.
And this finally gives us a chance to fuck off from German MIC reliance too.
