To bring this back to weapons instead of shitflinging - pls anons stop falling for zigger bait, it's designed to waste your time.

How many of these LNG/Gas complexes does Russia have and how feasible is it to defend all of them adequately with EW jammers or interceptor drones? I read from Ukrainians that Russian EW is pretty shit, and has a greater effectiveness at jamming Russian drones than Ukrainian drones (on the frontline) so it works.

And has anyone run the numbers on the damage of these types of attacks? What's the cost of the 'arrow' that Ukrainians are using versus the damage that arrow deals and how much would the 'shield' cost for Russia? Is it even worth investing in EW or interceptor drones? Are there cheaper solutions like nets?

1. Russia is a petrostate and much of the real economy is derived from providing services to the oil/gas sector.
2. Oil/gas export revenues have been hit hard this year from low oil prices and a strong rubble.
3. There are already fuel shortages in the country.

Smacking oil refineries over and over again exaggerates these problems and deprives the Kremlin of money to pay for the war, which as they love to point out, is fought by voluntary contract soldiers.
If money runs out for the Kremlin then those contracts aren't going to be as lucrative nor attractive because they can't afford it and then Russia must either mobilise or withdraw.

Wage arrears are a big problem on the pocc. As are unpaid invoices. Factoring is the appropriate response to this but it is inadequate. The real solution is liquidity and lots of it. Banks are unwilling, and in some cases unable because of central bank rules, to provide it.

The more high-value targets Ukraine can damage or destroy the worse these economic problems become for Russia. I think it's only this year that Ukraine has targetted their railways. If they can keep it up and make sure that trains can't deliver goods as easily, the economy will really begin to seize up and stall.

It's an annualised rolling average with a cutoff at each new year. Earlier datapoints smooth with later datapoints in the year. All the raw data are from the Russian Railways website's press releases.

On revenge btw here's a pic of some of the damage Ukraine plausibly inflicted earlier this year - no-one has owned up to it and Moscow accused Ukrainian saboteurs. There's another pic from Bryansk from the same time. Ukraine could make this war turn really very ugly for the border regions of Russia if they wanted to. So far they prioritise high-yield tax sources for the Kremlin and military targets with their cross-border drone strikes.

From here:
https://www.caspianpolicy.org/research/security/live-map-of-russian-refineries-hit-ukrainian-drone-strikes-boost-caspian-energy

Are there other things like this? It would be cool if there was a little info tab for each refinery hit showing estimated capacity versus current output. And maybe a comparison with pre-war pre-sanctioned output to see just how much loss there has been even without being hit yet. And of course highlighting where future drone strikes would have maximum impact on the Russian war economy.
I read here that the Omsk refinery is the biggest one in the country but Ukrainian drones don't yet have the range to reach that far yet.

And this is -after- their shills at Fox and Vance threw the kitchen sink at Ukraine and Zelensky and the full court press on social media from Russian bots, Thiel's Palantir and bot networks, Indian bot networks etc. All of that shit just isn't moving the needle on this and part of the reason is how obviously in the wrong Russia is, how obviously this is an imperialist war of aggression and how absolutely loathsome Russians behave both online and in their conduct of the war.

The interesting thing about the one in the OP's is that its a gas refinery. That's a fairly speshul piece of gear for cracking down propane, butane and making LPG which they probably don't have a lot of those as there was essentially no need, 4 years ago they just chucked in the plumbing for gas down to the Euro's and they bought it by the megatons.

Official Response from the Ministry of Explanationsβ„’

Comrades of /k, rejoice and rest easy! The strike on the Ust-Luga refinery was, in fact, a resounding Ukrainian failure. The refinery? Useless. We didn’t even need it. In fact, it was so useless we were just about to sell it for scrap to a guy in Belgorod with a wheelbarrow and a goat.

Let it be known to the world that at the exact moment of the attack, the facility had been heroically converted into a shelter housing 200 smiling Ukrainian orphans, all of whom had been rescued from NATO’s death camps in Poland. These children, nourished on the finest invented in russia borscht concentrate and patriotic cartoons, were happily singing folk songs about tractor production when evil Western munitions struck.

Thankfully, every orphan miraculously survived, thanks to the quick thinking of refinery workers who bravely shielded them with a combination of surplus T-62 armor plating, a single shovel, and the spirit of the Motherland.

So to summarize:

The refinery was strategically irrelevant.

We didn’t need it anyway.

It wasn’t producing fuelβ€”it was producing happiness, sunshine, and safe space for innocent orphans.

Any damage is not real, but also proof of Boris Johnson's barbarism.

Glory to disinformation! Glory to plausible deniability! And most of all, glory to the ever-flexible truth of the Ministry!

Idk, on the macro scale he's been consistent. He has 3 conditions he follows:

1. End the war and get the Nobel Peace Prize as a one-up on OBAME
2. Make sure Monke doesn't chimp out before the end of his term (he supposedly was rattled when Stubb and Rutte told him if he gives the Dumbass to Monke, along with its North-western fortifications, he will be giving Monke a "highway to Kiev")
3. Make sure that none of this costs the USA a single dime (Ukraine is a waste of money, Zelenskyy was scamming America), and if he actually can make money and sell that is a big win, tired of winning yet, even better. That's why he's squeamish about secondary sanctions, he knows it will hurt the USA, no matter how small it will be

He keeps bouncing back and forth because we keep approaching new red lines that one side or the other doesn't want to cross. The past several lines the russians didn't want to cross (unconditional ceasefire, meeting with Zelensky) so they have to play the game of trying to convince him that "we're gonna cross that line any minute now, bro, just give us two more weeks", which gives him a convenient excuse to not lash out against them, because any punishment that would ACTUALLY make a difference would in some way be harmful to the USA in the short-term.

It's paternalism died up to 11. And sunk cost fallacy, as in if I stop working and leave I'll never get my back pay, but if I continue working then maybe I'll get at least some of it back.

Never go full paternalist. People basically live on auto-pilot where the goyvernment tells them what to do and leads them through life. USSR did this to 11. When 90s hit and there was no longer the boom of the party in people's asses, a ton of those people collapsed like meat puppets whos strings got cut off. People would go to work and work for _years_ (yes, years) without getting paid at all or getting paid peanuts (you were owed 100 RUB for month, but you're getting that money after waiting for 6-18 months, when inflation decimated the value of that money). Despite a ton of work being available that wasn't like that, but you had to actively do something about it, which was extinguished from the people.

This shit doesn't just magically disappear after USSR collapses, it's kept as a scar in people's psyche and they transmit it via societal culture to their kids, even if in lesser form.

It wasn't that bad considering everything, that's retroactive propaganda by the putin's regime to paint itself as better than what came before, despite him ruling for 25 years already, longer than the "vile 90s" even happened lol.
It's just that the media floodgates opened up in the 90s and people actually saw for the first time how much of a shitshow everything was. Hence the first things putin did when he came to power is to take control over the media.

Apparently there's 20-24,000 ziggers in that area. Someone said, hey youuu guys go forward and they did, leaving no one in that rear area to keep it secure and that's a bit of a problem when they already annoyed Ukraine enough to come down and snip off the bunny ears.
Not saying it is happening
But it could happen, in which case you'll have all those ziggers shitting and screaming in a pocket

>Western aid was pretty much the only reason half the russian population didn't starve in the 90s
That's mostly the start of the 90s. Even by 1994 or so if you weren't retarded (e.g. continued to go to work in your soviet-tier job for no money), you could start making normal money and finally have access to basic bitch shit from the civilized world. Like not being scared that KGB will blow out the door to your commieblock apartment and jail you because you're watching incorrect movies on VHS (god forbid if you have friends over) using the VCR which cost more than a car, only because your neighbors ratted you out. Or not getting jailed because you don't want to work in the shitty job the state assigned you. Or eating something more than "naked pasta" (boiled pasta without anything, no meat, no sauce, no cheese - nothing) or potatoes. Or being able to buy normal clothes.
The only bad thing about the 90s is that a 100+ million retarded faggots for the first time in their life got shown how shit their life actually is and what fucked up shit happens around them, and it was enough for them to mentally revolt and desire an autocrat who'd save them from reality.

Ok full honestly Russia is an agressive shithole but people have been saying Russia's economy is going to collapse any second now for years and nothing has changed. All I see now is India and China buying Russian oil without a care in the world. What has changed magically? The timing on this narrative is really funny how it lines up with Western/Ukrainian pushes for peace negotiations. Is it just a negotiation tactic to remind everyone this is going to happen for reals one day?

Problem for the Russians is that the Ukrainians have a big drone advantage in the area, which makes even rear-line movements problematic for the Russians. And they seem to have no meaningful mobile reserve, nor did they have the time to fortify the ground they've taken lately, so they're being caught out in open positions.
