I have a TA31 ACOG. I'm quite happy with it and have been for years. The eye relief is a tiny bit unforgiving but I've gotten used to it.
For a mid-range optic:
1) Is there anything out there which outclasses the ACOG so much that it's worth changing. My priorities being durability and easy to acquire illluminated reticle
2) On a new rifle what is out there that can give me somewhat comparable performance for a lower price (accepting of course it may be lesser in some areas). I've been looking at the SLx optics and want to hear options on those as a poor man's ACOG.

i contextualize my life by week: i turn 30 in a few weeks and when i look back on all the ar15 moments ive had i like to feel accomplished but in reality all my ar15s are the same and they shoot equally as others, if not better in some aspects but in the grand scheme probably worse than most. its ok and ive accepted it, made some range safety officers along the way and had meaningful groupings with other shooters, but nothing thats stuck. do i long for a range membership for life? yea, but do i know deep down i probably dont deserve it with my current lifestyle and attitude to the opposite enthusiast.

I went into the woods yesterday to hike with my AR15, i am lost, i slept in an old shack last night, my phone is dieing it's at 1% and

Guys i have a question. Pic related is my current setup, LPVO in front, offset red dot behind. This is how i've seen most folks mount their gun. However, the eye relief kinda sucks and i would need to move the lpvo further back for it to work out better. I can only do that by swapping the order, but the red dot mount won't fit ahead of the lpvo because of the mount's front.
Soooo i'm considering doing a 180 on the mount, that way my eye relief could work better. But, yknow, my mount would technically be facing the wrong way. Would this acceptable?
