Mystery Bayonet
I found this bayonet in my grandparents house. Can anyone tell me what it is? Google has been no help.

Lol maybe. I should have included measurements. From end to end it's ~42cm (16.5"), 2.2cm(11/16ths") tall, and ~0.6cm(2/8ths") wide.

Well yeah, It's obviously missing most parts and the blade has been modified from its original form.

how are you smart enough to string 3 images into one but too dumb to google a word you took a picture of and then spent time staring at while you edited it?

That's exactly what it looks like, did it myself with an old flea market katana when I was a kid. OP should finish the job.

Thanks.

Because I just saw that when I was examining the sheath for more markings and then became annoyed with MSpaint.

I plan on that. Just need to get parts.

there are no parts you are going to have to fabricate everything yourself

That's what I meant. I have a bunch of tools but no materials. Any wood recommendations for the grip?

Not that it isn't obvious but you wouldn't believe the amount of times I've tried researching something I have (sometimes many times) only to find the information myself like 3 minutes after I post about it (usually because of search results getting shuffled or using slightly different wording giving me completely new results or sometimes finding a marking I have never once noticed before) and feel stupid lol.

To continue making it into a knife or to make it a bayonet again? Walnut is always a nice wood. See if you can find a guy at a local flea market that sells kiln dried wood or if a flea market has a wood craft/furniture day you can go to. Used to have a local guy who sold kiln dried blanks for pens, knife scales, and knife handles. Couple bucks at most but had really nice grain and pattern to them. Like $10 per at most. To make it a bayonet again, good luck. In that case hope to god it was imported wood scales because Australia has some native stuff you'll almost never see over here. And really cool shit I wish we could get, too.
