Picked up this cool 92FS Compact from 1988 today. Mostly just want to convert it to decocker only and replace the rear sight. Are there any other must have upgrades for the 92 series? Is the LTT trigger job thingy worth the hype?? Thank you Berettanons

Anonymous No.64171456

for the older compacts you can just get the LTT trigger bar instead of the whole trigger job.
The trigger job smooths out the sear and other shit but on an old gun that shit is worn down already, the trigger bar is the only thing that changes mechanically.

from there, you can consider a short reach trigger, a match hammer, and a reduced hammer spring so it just feels nicer to shoot.

I'd actually go so far as to say that the Decocker only conversion is simply cosmetic and you can just ignore it till the end.

I personally get a wolff trigger return device simply because i don't like the stupid fucking spring that is complete horseshit to set and that supposedly breaks often. I wouldn't know, i always get the 20 dollar device and forget about it.

More /hg/ related, should I get a Tisas 1911 or a Norinco 1911? I know the Turkish option is probably a little cheaper, but the 'Model of the 1911' marking and rumors of their retardedly hard steel makes me like the Norinco option a little more. I guess what I am asking is the meme worth the price?

A good comp with 9x19mm would be like 30% less recoil effectively. Personally I don’t think you can take advantage of the lower recoil without a red dot or a lot of skill to get any sort of time advantage but they take β€œless effort” to shoot good. I think Ben Stoeger has a videos comparing recoil between the Staccato XC, Staccato P, and the Glock 34. There is barely any difference in the side by side view but he’s a world champion shooter.

I really don't know about s&w in particular, but watch out for the guns with threaded barrels that have an "adapter" from some pointless obscure garbage thread to 1/2x28, and that's almost every gun made to look like duty version. That adapter is going to stick to the suppressor and come off the barrel regularly. Best hosts are where 1/2x28 threads are made of same piece of metal that has the chamber.

I'm a older guy who lives in Maine which has very good carry laws. I've gotten by with using a .380 LPC and a pair of compact 9mm/.45 Glocks for a decade.

I have a compact 9mm Glock and the same in .45, i hate them. they are blocky and weird to me. I want to trade them in for a Chinese Type 54 in 7.62x25.

It's compact, i like the way it shoots and it fits in a Miami style holder. Also the type 54 is better for killing animals which is my most likely use.

I've never encountered a human related self defense situation in my life but i have faced three moose, a TT-33 clone will kill a moose dead so i assume it will kill a human.

I loved my old tokarev I owned and breifly carried it, but tokarevs are not really drop safe and the import safeties don't actually work, or at least didn't when I owned mine. They are great guns, but so are several other guns that aren't glocks which I also hate. Why not get a CZ p-01 or tisas 1911 or some other gun that's both safe to carry, drop safe, and doesn't have a 2x4 grip.

Toks are very based, but shouldn't be carried cocked with a round in the chamber. If you insist on carrying one, either do it with an empty chamber or lower the hammer manually.

I agree with >>64172847, the 1911 is probably a better choice. Get some hard cast +P and you're better prepared for an encounter with dangerous animals than you would be with a tokarev.

Alternatively, be extra comfy and take the revolverpill

It only has high muzzle energy which is kind of a meaningless metric for handguns since it’s pushing an 85 gr projectile at 1700 fps, which from all reports I read does not reach that number from new manufacture ammo. It does not have a meplat to do significant damage to tissue or is there commonly available soft point or JHP ammunition. The last poster in here to be obnoxious about the tokerov was a homosexual who openly talked about needing to take aids medication. It is not more effective or anywhere equal to .357 magnum since 85gr<125/158gr which have larger flatter meplats.

5.7x28mm is cheaper, since I’m looking at 7.62x25mm being 60 cpr. There are also commercially available 9mm loads that can easily penetrate IIIA body armor so any sort of penetration advantage the 7.62x25mm cartridge has can be found elsewhere.

It being β€œless profile” does not matter when you cannot safely carry it chambered like you can with a 1911 or Glock or any other modern auto.

Also scoring works by whatever the highest ring the bullet hole is touching. You try to count only the bullet hole and not tears in the paper due to round nose.

The X ring sometimes is counted as 11 but traditionally is counted the same as the 10 ring but a separate count is kept for X ring hits to be tie breakers if it comes down to it. This target would be 3 (10s) and 2 (9s) and 1 X ring hit.

I think it would be best to score each stage separately so to more easily keep track of each hit.

Hmm, I’ll add a thing stating clearer target instructions because a single target entry is cleaner to add in the collage. I was going to make a guide where if you had 4 targets
>paste 2 targets on top of each other
>shoot the first stage
>remove top target and replace it with a fresh one, leaving the bottom target in place, making sure they are perfectly on top of each other
>shoot next stage
>repeat target swap
Then you will have the bottom target that kept track of all hits to be submitted, and 3 sheets that kept track of each stage separately. That’s what I was going to do because I like have individual metrics of stage performance.

I’ll add you to the collage, perhaps overlaying all 3 images

If you buy B8 target repair centers off Amazon they’re like 20 cents each

Brussels police: Glocks, M&Ps (!!!)

the only time i used it in the last three years was when i was REALLY drunk and fired a round into a berm at 2-3 am while i was walking back from wherever the fuck i was that night.
I have no qualms about driving a bit tipsy but i was literally too drunk to operate my vehicle so i walked home.
I'm pretty sure i had a reason at the time to fire into the berm, probably just because i would have gotten away with it, which i did.
I sold it at a gun show with a bunch of other guns just two weeks ago. Mathematically either they overpaid for cheap polymer shit or the boomer actually paid me 700 bucks for it.

That would be a good price for an HS2000 in clean condition though as they are collector's items. Triggertech released a video apologizing for their new ACE trigger being unsafe.
They said that the trigger is only.for competition use and not a carry/dury trigger.
They will make new versions for carry/duty. Customers can get a refund or exchange it for a duty trigger.

That's, odd. To say the least. Maybe the little trolly wheels roll instead of drag if there's no lube?

No it fucking doesn't. The "thumb groove" is a bs feature for importation purposes. You can and should use a conventional thumbs high grip and isosceles stance with Glocks. Are you neurodivergent?

The XD mod 3 is probably better than whichever model he is offering and $250 online. I've seen em as low as $299 in stores. The grip like all XDs is slippery, but less so than the previous models I've shot. Could use some grip tape. Unlike the springfield echelon whoae trigger reset and general pull really impressed me and made my groups noticably better the XD trigger is what you expect for a cheap gun, kinda shitty.

LTT Elite is the pinnacle of 92s
M9 and 92FS is the classic 80s one
M9A4 is the most updated military styled one
M9A1 is legacy GWOT one
92X Performance is all steel model (all others are aluminum) with thumb safety
92Xi is a SAO model with a thumb safety
92 GTS is a decocker thumb lever and in my opinion is mental illness the only place I see it’s purpose is competition since the frame lever decocker drops it to half cock which gets you a slightly better and shorter DA pull

Interesting theory but you have to place your thumb there to keep it parallel with your index finger
