Do the riot shields used by the National Guard deflect bullets like in my vidya games, or are they just for like bottles and stuff?

The glass/plastic ones in your pic are only effective against rocks and other blunt objects. The might be able to stop low velocity shrapnel from a bomb in certain circumstances but a bullet will straight-up shatter them and kill the user.

There are shields that will stop bullets, but they're made from solid steel. pic related.

From what i know for sheilds youd want something like this that again is rated around the same level of Ar500 plates.
For the riot shields.

That's usually bulletproof glass, which needs to be much heavier than steel to match the bullet resistance so it's kept small and may not stand up to the same threats as the rest of the shield

No. Most standard police-issue shields (according to my knowledge) are made of Perspex or plastic, and can only really protect you from firebombs/molotovs, knives and bats or clubs. A ballistic shield is usually issued to military personnel in the SF or police in SWAT, and is more commonly designed to stop pistol/rifle rounds and explosions in some cases.

Typically the shield with a handle will have around 30-35lbs, if there is other stuff on it like the lights/strobes it will go up a few more lbs. So it's not that bad considering these are used for quick operations that last couple of minutes usually.
