Taiwan has plans for this if China invades, right?
It's basically a pseudonuclear deterrent.

Formosa doesn't have anything capable of so much as scratching the paint on the 3GD. The USA does, but they won't do shit.

That dam is an outlandishly large mass of concrete that would probably take nukes to crack, I've never seen anyone explain how some cruise missiles could bust it.
For one thing, Taiwan doesn't want to commit to a suicide pact, Taiwan wants to hide under America's skirt.
I label it a suicide pact because if Taiwan commits a holocaust against China with a trick nukesless% run and says 'um technically we didn't actually use a nuclear reaction for all those civilian megadeaths, we just did a ju-jitsu move with your own river system..." they'll nuke Taiwan into ashes and wait for our response.
That's if they had any way to break the dam and I don't think they do.

All you need is a few stealth bomber carrying aerially deployable GBU-57-sized unmanned underwater vehicles (torpedoes in effect) loaded with around 3500lbs of explosive filling. Drop them up into the Yangtze a few dozen miles upstream from the dam, and you shall usher in a new age of peace and prosperity in East Asia.

What where they thinking? A single well placed bunker buster bomb and their entire capital would be underwater alongside millions of dead. Literally much more destructive than a nuke: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyiv_Reservoir

Russia did damage a dam to try and drown their enemies while retreating didn't they, drowned a bunch of their own men in the process

The constant posting of threads talking about this particular dam is just falseflagging isn't it.

Like all their other low-quality spam.

>more than half a century of 'nuclear energy' cooperation with Japan
>Cruise missiles with range well in excess required

Why hit 3 Gorges when any of the ones upstream would do the trick?

It's the MAD option against Red China's one winning approach (glass the entire island with subs, and walk over the ashes).

Would it though? I always see people talking about how blowing up the dam will result in millions and millions of chinese dead, but it just seems so inept to me. Yeah, lots of flood damage, but it's not like a tsunami that's going to instantly scour the entire flood area. It doesn't help that trying to find actual information on such an event is inevitably buried under 30 layers of weirdos breathlessly ranting about "20 BILLION DEAD CHINAMEN" while also trying to sell you physical silver and novelty bibles.

ffs you don't break the dam itself. You break the ship locks. If you don't have shit accurate enough to take out the ship locks then blast some of the smaller dams farther up the river during peak rainy season to try and force and overtopping failure.
You're like the prepper retard who thinks that the solid iron door means the feds can't get to you, when all they do is just blast the wall three feet to the side of it before rushing through the hole.

Just give Taiwan nukes. It’s literally that easy to prevent a Chinese invasion
