they didn't pursue nuclear weapons because they thought the war would have been over by the time they could have them developed and build.
they where well aware of the possibility of making them and had several very gifted scientists that the US later paperclipped to hemp them develop their further.
they where right about this since the allies only managed to conduct the trinity test 3 whole months after Hitlers death. it in turn only being possible due the UK handing over all the research it had already conducted and then the US pouring vast amounts of resources into the project. resulting in only 3 bombs before the war was over.

I'm going to assume a surviving, but not strictly victorious Germany. It's moderately more successful than otl, managing to hold circa dec. 1944 frontlines in august 1945. It also manages to develop simple (uranium- rather than plutonium) based nuclear weapons essentially simultaneously with the US. This is quite silly, but necessary for it to not lose.
Brief nuclear exchanges lead to an armistice. Germany manages loosely the borders of 1939 + Poland up to the Vistula.
It then goes through the following stages:

basically just WW2 surplus. The StG 45 (not 44) becomes its standard rifle. New stuff like the Panther 2 is rolled out, but in very small numbers. Germany is surrounded by hostiles, minimal trade, it has to rebuild its everything and is both, hungry and poor. Hitler's deteriorating health eventually leads to his death in the early 1950s, which leads to party squabbles.
In the 1950s, Hitler's death makes Germany minimally more palpable as an economic partner. The Korean war doesn't happen (being busy in Europe, the Soviets never attacked east, and so the US create a unified Korea while Japan keeps the Kuril islands and southern Sakhalin; this greatly annoys the Soviets, because they see it - correctly - as Truman breaking Roosevelt's promises), but China still goes communist and the US eventually involve themselves in the French struggle in Vietnam.
Germany starts to seriously replace WW2 leftovers with new kit, and invests enormously in rocket research, which starts to show with the launch of the first artificial satellite, Himmelsstern.
In the 60s and 70s, Soviet involvement in decolonisation wars, South America and especially South-East Asia, finally leads to the sanctions on Germany falling, although the western Europeans bitch about it. The German economy is relatively behind that of France and Britain, which results in cheap production costs and significant American investment. The Führerprinzip is finally dropped.

Fair point on the STG45, but if Germany went with intermediate early on the design may be different than what is essentially the FAL/G3: a stretched out beefier gun designed to handle a round much lighter and smaller.
