As an english speaker thats born in the regions and went to an public english school here, you better know some french. I had friends who weren't bilingual and had a hard time getting/keeping a job. When i worked as a factory worker and in the trades some english speakers got by with broken french but if you want an office job forget it unless it's customer service, and even then they expect you to be bilingual. I have never built a kit gun, Hawkin’s were a mainstay west of the Mississippi because they typically had more takedown power than an American long rifle. If you want to really splurge and spend a ton of money I would suggest a Kibler kit gun, they are apparently great and possibly some of the most beautiful kit guns out there.

I own a Pedersoli long rifle in .45 caliber, it’s very pleasant to shoot, very nimble and light. I love it.

As far as antiques revolvers go, I would honestly maybe make a trip down to America and buy one at an antique gun show. That way you can handle and examine it and not buy something sight unseen. I would also do some extensive research on antique revolvers and determine what it is you are looking for.

There is a half decent antique firearms show November 7th and 8th in Marietta this year. There is also a big antique gun show in Las Vegas around the time of shotshow.

There's nothing on the market that does everything the Steyr Scout does afaik, it's kind of a unicorn built off a very specific checklist. The second closest is the Ruger Gunsite Scout but it's heavier than the Colonel would've wanted, no onboard mag storage, can't be top loaded (easily, you can jam rounds into flexible polymer feed lips in a pinch but why would you even), and the iron sights are fixed in upward position. Steyr offers the most flexibility of any scout rifle platform, just depends on whether or not you *need* all that stuff.

I think a lot of the sales come from people who want a unique rifle that's light and comfortable to carry, also ticks the semi tacticool box + nostalgia for anyone who played Counter Strike as a child.
