Well, I make my Costco runs on Thursdays and Fridays, so they'll likely run into the alternate LA. It's pretty nice all things considered, long as you avoid the LAPD patrol robots, the homeless drugged-up cyber-zombies, and the gangbangers doing drive-bys in hovercars. Try the taco trucks near the closest Home Depot, they make the best al pastor tortas and burritos I've ever had, and there's some Asian supermarkets that have flat-priced fill-your-own-container Chinese food delis. Eat that good greasy shit for a full week if you know what you're doing and can pack it in.

That said, don't hang around the tower at night. Weird shit congregates around the entrances; one time I stayed out too late on Thursday and came back after dark, I ran into what can only be described as a hostile Barney on steroids spitting this explosively caustic yellow slime. Try the express elevator in the southwest part of 842, it goes down to the 610s without touching the dictatorship. Only thing to look out for is the vampire larpers on 613, they're mostly harmless but sometimes one goes nuts and starts biting everyone's necks with cyber-fangs. There's something about the freedom to do almost whatever you want in the tower. There's few rules and a lot of excitement, whether you want it or not. I mean even alt-LA gets annoying and stifling when LAPD start questioning the phased plasma rifle you're carrying around. When combined with the tower's relative ease of living and getting sundries, and the fact that most apartments are effectively free, it's a challenge a lot of people are willing to put up with for the freedom and excitement.

My thing is to stick the hose in the hole with the plug of the color of the water leaking out, somewhere on the floor.
I gather this is some giant fucked up mechanism based WAY WAY too obsessively on this hydraulic alphabet. And there are some mistakes, I'm definitely not supposed to let too much wrong colored water in these plugs but the shit it all over.
I have no tools whatsoever and it's supposedly important that I'm naked, but no one is here.
I do this for 8 hours, then #2 takes over. Never met #3.
There's no vacations but we're all ok with it. We have other homes.

Well, the abyss is seeing light for the first time in centuries, so things will definitely be interesting for a while. And likely deadly given what lives down there. At least the miasma is starting to thin out.

On a much better note, one of the science anons took a closer look at the crustaceans and they're loosely related to Chilean snow crabs, albeit the size of dobermans. Once rinsed to remove the miasmic slime they boil up like any other crab, and their flesh tastes like spicy lobster. Just don't eat their lungs, they retain the miasmic properties. Honey butter goes amazingly well with them.

And if you know how to run an old mine hoist, the kind with a band brake and mechanical clutches, then you can use the service elevator at the back to get to a few unusual stops that you can't access any other way. The lowest one leads here. The boys and I never scouted any farther but we're going back soon. We think there's some artifacts from the early days of the tower down there. It's my personal theory that the guy who first founded the doll brothel was one of the engineers responsible for 4th generation Gynoids. If we could bring back even a minor part from one of those, imagine what that would be worth? My buddy managed to get into Locus Solus's mainframes and found that several full-on prototypes and a whole bunch of R&D assemblies disappeared from their vaults right at the same time the tower was built. None of them, or their parts, ever showed up at any of the auction houses or scrappers either. We think they're down there, past the gate. What we don't know is if that gate is meant to keep us out, or to keep something else *in*.

These appear to be land crabs of some sort, and not sump crabs or any sewage-dwelling type. They taste good and all the toxicology/microbiology tests seem to be coming back negative, at least after cooking, so they're apparently safe to eat. They seem to act predatorily towards just about anything, and their claws are definitely dangerous, one cleaved through a PVC pipe like it was butter. As everyone here goes about armed they're not a serious problem unless you get ambushed; their legs make a distinctive loud clacking noise on hard surfaces so unless you're super careless that should be impossible.

I'd carry something AP just in case, regular pistol calibers pierce their shells but lose a lot of energy in the process so penetration is just a couple inches, not enough for a quick kill.

That's the sealed shrine on -493. The only record I've seen of any expedition was a ten-man team about fifty years back, moderately equipped but competent. The two survivors came running back with empty mag pouches and smoking muzzles, something about hordes of Egyptian mummies that caused lethal, partially sonic earthquakes by waving their hands and could attack from the other side of walls. Apparently this is a pic one of their GoPros caught while they were fighting their way out.

One anon said he used a thermal imager to see into the darkness below the former clog area and spotted a shape that looked like a two-legged lizard the size of a school bus, eating the crabs like candy. I've run into those lizard things outside the tower, on my Costco runs. They take HEAT to kill quickly enough for safety, even .50 BMG API doesn't get deep enough for a clean kill.

Maybe the lower shaft's their main den or habitat, and the ones outside just got loose. Maybe they've got a tunnel we don't know about.

Found another poor resolution image from the expedition footage. I have no idea what's going on here, but those dead arthropods look similar to ones mostly seen on -600 and lower. Maybe those are dead team members, not sure, and the red thing might be some sort of artifact. Some of the attached notes indicate the survivors saying they expended their fairly small stock of grenades way too fast and then things went really badly.
