This place is a cognitohazard. I used to think FtMs passed. Now I clock every one I see. I wasn't like this before. Now I just see beards on butches.
Our brains are unfortunately exceptionally good at pattern recognition. It's something about the eyes. They're just...different.

idk i think its more like a bell curve for both. pooners tend to lie more in the middle like the average person has a harder time clocking them but it takes a lot for them to be unclockable by people who know. whereas trannies are skewed on both sides and many are universally clockable, many are almost unclockable, and most (who put in effort) are somewhere in the middle

Pooners are saved by their anonymity.
If you don't advertise that you're trans, you might still get misgendered, but no one will ever think TRANNY. I've had people at my workplace call me she, but the moment you speak, they apologize. Worst you get is that they think you're a gay little boy. People are blind as fuck. I wish MtFs were just mistaken as butches.

Nobody knows what a poon looks like. They only know of theyfabs with blue hair. If you appear Mostly normal, no one will make the connection. But people know what an MtF looks like and there's so much connotation connected to it. When it comes to the eyes, we don't see extra bones protruding or whatever. Instead we see that the bones around the eyes grow a bit more inwards, making the eyes more deep set. This is why trans women tend to have massive hollow eyebags that don't go away by sleeping more; it's a structural problem.

Ever since FFS shaved down my orbitals and browbone my eyes have been left with huge panda eyes, both under and above my eyes. What essentially happened is that my eyes developed like a valley with little mountains on the sides, and FFS shaved those mountains off, but there's still a ridge, a crater. It's very uncanny and weird-looking, but therefore also a bit beautiful.
In females the eyes are very flush with the brow. So even if they develop a bit of a brow, their eyes for some reason just don't retract into their skulls as much.
To this day I can place a fist against my eyes and not really feel it while my ftm friend would compress it by a lot

Sampling bias. Trans people who pass well usually just go stealth and keep their mouths shut. The only reason to be out is to get money (trans influencers), attention (histrionics), or because you can't get gendered properly otherwise (people using right pronouns out of pity).
