Is it possible? I've been saving up and plan on getting FFS by next year. It's only going to be a rhinoplasty and genioplasty (nose and chin), in my country. I don't plan to get anything more intrusive and expensive since those are the biggest issues with my face and I already malefail every so often.

I'm boymoding and cannot come out to my family beforehand because they are transphobic and I am relying on them for part of the money, but I haven't thought my plan through in detail.

I plan to only tell them I am getting a septoplasty to fix my deviated septum. How quickly would the bruising and swelling go down? Also they would probably insist on coming with me and seeing me at the hospital. I have no friends that I'm out to, so there is no one else who could care for me and drive me home etc. I could just tell them I'm unhappy with my nose and chin and getting plastic surgery, and not tell them it's FFS specifically, which technically wouldn't even be a lie. However, they would notice my boobs if I cannot bind in the ward. Would this work if I were to somehow go in secret and avoid them for a few weeks? Would they notice my face looks weird, or that I sound weird on the phone? Also my job involves a lot of calls and talking, so I hope the genioplasty doesn't fuck my mouth and speech up for too long. Fuck my tranny life

rhino is the most obvious change you can do by far. if youre already committing to the effort, why not type 1 cranioplasty too? compared to nose, its a much more subtle change

Seems much more intrusive, and I don't trust local doctors with that. Going abroad to a reputable FFS clinic would be a lot more expensive and traveling would be much more of a hassle, I'm in eastern europe. These are common procedures that cis people get all the time too so they would have a lot more experience. Also my parents already know I have a deviated septum and that I'm unhappy with my bumpy nose, so it would be much easier to explain. Also, a cranioplasty would leave a scalp scar too if I'm not mistaken.

I use this cheap boob tape, I just have a bunch of rolls. It irritates my skin if I do it for too long but thankfully I work from home so it's fine for a few hours when I go outside. There is actual boob tape for binding usually meant for trans men, a lot more expensive but also double as wide and probably better quality so less irritating if you have more money to spend.

Don't say anything to them, then go have the surgery. Spend the day or 2 in hospital, check yourself out.

Call them from out front of the hospital and ask them to pick you up. When they ask what happened tell them you fell down a flight of stairs and landed on your face.

Goddess, gracious. If you malefail in fucking binders maybe you don't need FFS? Natural is always better than whatever plastic surgery can create. Is it an option to use the money you saved as a deposit to rent a flat, and live an authentic life?

I am already financially independent and live alone, just don't have the money to splurge on plastic surgery all by myself. I don't malefail constantly, just enough to know that I have passoid potential if I were to fix the handful of features that are holding me back. I live in eastern europe, I won't torture myself living as a clocky hon and being harassed and unable to find jobs and housing. Also I'm extremely insecure about my nose and chin shape/asymmetry regardless of how well I pass, though they sure aren't doing me favors. I'd probably get plastic surgery even if I already passed perfectly.

Nope sorry I don't really go outside lol. Also this tape sticks really poorly if you're sweaty when applying, so it's not a great option when it's very hot. Went on hikes and long trips wearing this and it was fine though, seems to only be an issue in like the first hour of application. Just so you know

Hi anon, out of curiosity how long did you need before any scars or inflammation or whatever were mostly faded? I'm getting a rhino soon and I don't want anyone to say anything. I have two weeks off, is that enough?

For rhino, it was mainly just bruising/swelling which was mostly gone by the second week. depending if you get open or closed rhinoplasty, you may have stitches on the outside but they are typically removed after the first week and the scar at that point is generally not noticable unless you are looking for it. You will have residual swelling in the nose that takes a longer time to dissipate but normies don't notice that

to everyone here, if your family who has(probably) spent their entire life seeing you and your face, doesnt notice a sudden surgery, then is ur FFS even worth it???

Like for HRT changes i understand because its over time and often subtle so people who see you all the time wont notice as easily.

if i got FFS i would WANT people to see and NOTICE the new(ideally passing me, ofc i dont want anyone to notice me being a hon)me.

People don't really pay close attention to your facial features, they will think something is different but not know what. Like they may just think you look healthier or gained/lost weight etc. I went to an aggressive surgeon and noone in my family noticed. The only people who did comment on the differences knew I was getting surgery

You will have to tell them some time, unless you intend to ditch them forever. They may already know.

If you are leaving your family, why do you care? If they're terrible to you, that would be one thing, but they're paying to fix your face.

They're not paying to fix my face per se, they're just helping me out with money. They absolutely do not know, they're older eastern europeans, my sister probably suspects I'm gay or something but she's not snitching. I guess I want to stick around for a while after surgery and then come out once I am already in the process of legal transition, on the off chance they will be supportive of it, which I doubt. If they aren't then I am ditching them. But that's still a ways off

This isn't remotely feasible. FFS swelling (overall) lasts for about a year, and it's 3-6 months before you even look remotely normal. "I fell down the stairs" wouldn't account for how consistently and egregiously swollen you will be. You know Yeonmi Park on Joe Rogan (it's a meme)? You'll look like that for like 3 months. You won't have "final" results for like a year.

>>40219653
This wouldn't work, it's much worse than "I fell down the stairs."

Okay then, guess I'm telling them I'm getting a septoplasty and also having my chin touched up to be more proportional with my nose. Since I'll be swollen for a while they shouldn't notice I look necessarily more feminine right away. I think that's doable

They're still fuckign helping you out with money, you intend to lie to them about what your'e doing with the money, and you're planning to ditch them entirely. Do you have a timeline, or do you plan to suprise them and demand you get accepted 100 percent day one, or bye? I mean how long did it take you to come to terms with yourself? If you have to move away and never see them again, then that's how it has to be. But what's your plan on letting them know?

The rough plan is to come out to my sister first who seems accepting and already has a trans friend, then I'm probably sending my parents a letter/message dump and blocking them everywhere to give them time to process it first before disowning me. Then I'll message them again after a while and have a hopefully level headed discussion about it once they have had time to think. My sister can let me know of roughly what they are thinking so I know what to expect, she can also maybe try to smooth things over slightly. I understand that they've never been exposed to this shit before and they are definitely not going to be accepting immediately, so I don't plan on cutting them off forever right away. I may cut off ties for a while, then contact them once more and see if they prefer having a faggot tranny child than no son at all. I honestly really don't see it working out in the long term but I am willing to give it a genuine try.
