It's good to know how your program will work and what it will do in any language, the technology you use is secondary to that. some source code that I've written powers medical devices used in hospitals all over the united states, I worked on the various power modes analog side of things, but I also wrote a lot of libraries, think of it like "designing" the part of a brain that control's someone's heart, except I did for a machine that saves humans

I completed a 4 year degree in computer science and job hopped my way up from a local government internship to a senior dev position in a large financial company where I've been for the past few years and it was all luck. My mom kicking my ass to complete my degree, a booming tech employment market coinciding with my early career years, the right choice of industry, a good team, several supportive managers, my natural apptitude for the job.
