sorry for the blogpost in advance but I need some advice and need to clear my head. Essentially Ive been a spineless people pleaser my whole life, the avg neglected middle child, etc ,etc. I definitely pushed romantic feelings onto a friend that didn't want those romantic feelings, Ive taken accountability for that. Nobody in today's world has the spiritual strength to do it (also the gods are dead, making it moot), but this isn't the stupidest thing to say. Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely indicative of inflated ego and immaturity, but there's a kernel of something more.
At least in Egypt, people's attitudes toward divinity were very different than you see in most religions today. People worshiped, obviously, but there was a coexisting belief that properly enacting certain formulae would allow someone to "compel" divine action on some specific problem. This stems from the understanding that divinity is both something with an ego/identity AND a ubiquitous natural force that follows predictable laws.
Consider a river- you as an individual can't redirect it, but you could build a waterwheel and harness its power to run your mill and achieve things beyond your sole capacity in that way. Not a perfect analogy but it's in the ballpark.

People and their feelings really are complicated, I'm telling you anons.
Yesterday evening, a friend of mine messaged me, saying that when we first met she was really attracted to me (I had seen that and I reciprocated the attention even though I've been in a relationship for a long time).
