I want otaku friends into retro games and retro anime, most of the ones that I have added here only really like popular first party Nintendo, Sega, and Sony games. They only really know about the shonen battle adaptations and normalfag movies from Miyazaki, Shinkai, Hosoda, Dezaki, Oshii, Kon, etc. I do like first party games, battle shonen, and popular anime movies as much as the average poster, but there is no in between with my adds. I don't like only those things. It is like talking to adds whose only exposure to shoujo is mahou and romance. Or whose only exposure to seinen is grimdark edgy shit or moe wank serialized in otaku magazines. My favourite anime series is Patlabor, it has a little of everything and it is short enough without going into a triple digit episode count, including OVA, TV. and movie timeline.
As for my favourite game. That is hard to say, it depends on what I'm in the mood for. I sank a lot of hours in FFTA1-2 just because the EU cart is region free, I can play all the missions in Spanish, French, German, and Italian (only with FFTA1) to learn new words, when needed. The first Metal Gear Solid, dubbed and translated in Spanish, French, German, and Italian, also served the same purpose. My native language is Portuguese, not a lot of stuff for retro consoles get official translations. TecToy translated Phantasy Star I-III, but not IV, which is the one I played the most. Maniac Mansion (as well as several other LucasArts games) has many translations to choose from. If it is text heavy and can be finished in a single weekend, Iโm more likely to go back to replay, like with Super Mario RPG or Terranigma.

If someone you are talking to doesn't do it and dismisses shoujo anyway, then they are proving that anon's point, that people don't want to leave their comfort zone or only want to circlejerk to the same things with no room for other anime.
Iโm aware some of these have active love interests, but so does a lot of shonen. To me a work isn't romance unless romance drives the story entirely. Angel Sanctuary kicks off about an incestous relationship, but the manga is about a war between heaven and hell. Rose of Versailles has a love triangle yet it is largely historical drama in the French revolution.
Your mileage may vary. I have singled out anime like Nana, because I'm not entirely sure how much romance is too romance for an anime like Nana, Ceres, or Please Save My Earth. Thanks for my TED talks.

I am in pain constantly, I'm medicated but it doesn't seem to help much, I've been on many different meds, seen many therapists and have a psychologist and psychiatrist I see regularly
