i'm bilingual as someone from another EU country who had the misfortune of living in france for years and has a degree from a french uni and so on, but i never understood why people are so obsessed with the french language. maybe it's because they've never heard actual french people irl speak it but most of the time it sounds like they have tourettes. though it's a nice literary language i guess and speaking it has been undeniably handy for me career-wise since i finally left that shithole to go live in a real country.
