It kind of is hypocritical but at the same time we live in late-stage neoliberal capitalism and there arguably aren't many moral jobs that exist today so no one can really blame you. You don't have a choice but to live in a fascist state with an extremely large military industrial complex, although it would be much better if you found literally anything else to do and used the LM job purely to make a quick buck.
A few years back I was considering joining the army because I know that as long as I don't have to shoot someone just rolling around in the mud and sharing barracks with frens sounds fun as h*ck but I didn't because I'm a horrible liar and knew that in the interview with recruiters they would ask about my intentions and saying "Erm, I like the colour of our uniforms they look cute as h*ck" was not going to fly. I also knew that if ever it actually came to an actual war and killing that I would not only not be able to kill enemies of my state but I would actively do it against service members.
