I’m very hygienic but both my boyfriend and my friends have been telling me I have a distinct “pee smell”. Especially towards the end of the day. I asked them to be brutally honest with me, and now I can’t unsmell it. I don’t actively pee myself, but apparently what’s happening is some slight leakage throughout the day.

I decided to investigate it and the pee smell is a known side effect for trans girls on spiro, so I talked to my doctor about adjusting my doses. She agreed and I’m trying something new but she says that all trans women do have some slight leakage and you need to be cleaning up all day, even if you don’t visibly see drippage on your clothes.

Tl;Dr My boyfriend doesn’t care but my transition has made me smell like pee, and apparently even my friends and parents can smell it. Picrel

Just as an aside. This is probably not the reason for you, but I want to mention it anyway. When people who are not used to fasting and burning fat for energy suddenly fast or skip meals, they can also smell like pee, as a byproduct of the body metabolizing some protein. It causes an ammonia smell.
