i totally understand that. i think the other anons are right, but that doesn't make you wrong. obviously, that doesn't make them wrong, either, though (in my opinion, i spose).
and i do tend to agree with them, even though i sympathize deeply with your perspective. almost everything in life we have to learn from others. almost everything in life we have to work for. this might include your voice! i think of it a lot like stretching. when you sing consistently, and you practice and warm up and do everything you're supposed to, your vocal range will literally expand. even in speech. you will have more clarity and more ease reaching pitches and tones which might have been difficult before. it's like stretching a muscle. until four months ago i had never touched my forehead to my shins. now i can do that because i stretched. singing Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap is really hard for me unless i've been singing for a while. and even then it's still hard lol. but the POINT is that i don't think it's so much artifice or pretense as you feel. i'm not pretending to be able to put my face between my knees and i'm not pretending to be able to sing Hide and Seek; those are just things i can do (i actually probably can't sing Hide and Seek right now but that's besides the point) because i worked at them. you're not pretending to have a "female-sounding" voice, either; it's just how your voice sounds. or will sound.

>if testosterone had never poisoned me.
here's something else to think about: detransitioned cis women often have to train their voices back to being "passable"; you are a woman, no? what's so fake about putting in a little work on the vocal front so that people don't get confused?
it is, of course, up to you. as is everything. be comfortable and live the way you like. it's just something to think about.
