Just got done reading this, why was dr money so comically evil? Like wtf was wrong with him? He's like a cartoon villian. Anyway the book was pretty good, would recommend.

weird how the only treatments for non conformity in males are either
mutilating their penises and chemically breaking their balls and dressing them up like girls and telling them to perform a female voice and have female hobbies

telling them to abandon any feminine mannerisms, voice, interests etc. and larp as masculine straight men as best they can
nobody ever tells feminine men it's ok to just be themselves

I'm not sure when that started but new surgical techniques (by 60s standards) have made more things possible.
We even have single stage surgeries to correct fairly complex cases to male now.

i think he had that mad scientist urge to eschew any sense of decency in the name of "discovery". david reimer's case, even if tragic did revolutionize conception of gender; it's a shame that it's steeped in so much cruelty though, even if such cruelty reflects the situation of so many closeted and repressing trans people today.

I've had a real life righty bring him up like he was the father of trans ideology, but as far as I can tell he didn't like us very much.
You were supposed to take the gender you were given, not exercise free will. Even if exercising free will meant becoming the sex you were born as.
