As a kid, and as I grew up, I don't know why I wanted to be a girl.
I just knew I was envious of girls for getting to be girls and I wanted to be a girl. I was jealous of the fact that they didn't go through masculine puberty. I just hated my voice getting deeper, my facial hair, my masculine skeleton, and everything else. I resented pressure to be masculine, as if I even wanted it and I was trying and failing as opposed to doing the minimum so as not to get bullied.
